I presume you mean for the Panther, on which this auxiliary armour was most commonly seen?

The Griffon set 35A001 does seems to be hard to find.  BNA Modelworld in Australia have stock.  I've used them many times and found them reliable.

ET Model also do a Panther A/D/G set including turret roof armour (which the Griffon set does not), EA35-061, and a Panther F set EA35-070.  BNA, Der Sockelshop in Germany & lamaquette.be in Belgium have the 061 set  I've used Der Sockelshop often too: just had a box from them today, in fact.

The Griffon set and both ET sets are on eBay from Australia (BNA again) and China.  BNA shipping can be cheaper if you use their website, especially for multiple items.  The Chinese eBay seller is Kingman Model, who I've also bought stuff from without problems.

Buying in Europe saves the risk of customs charges, although a single packet of etch would probably slip through.  Der Sockelshop have a very good range and their prices and shipping aren't bad.  Likewise Modellbau Koenig in Germany and Jadar Models in Warsaw. Browse any of their sites and you risk spending a fortune!  Other stores are available ......

Try Google or eBay searches for "Panther armour 1/35".

Hauler do a set in 1/48, HLX48320 and ET do a set in 1/72, E72-010.

I must have missed this when I made my own post on the same subject.

Anyway Voyager has a full set and you can buy it at Lucky Model for $6.95 plus free shipping. They are on back order and I made my order since I've bought several things from them over the years and never had a problem. I thing the min for free shipping is $10. I had to find something else I wanted and the both were half what I could have bought here and free shipping. Because of the back order it should take 3-5 weeks before I get them but that's ok, not in a hurry.

Set up a PayPal account and use that instead.

Marcus McBean

Set up a PayPal account and use that instead.

That's what I have. I have a different checking account just for the paypal and only keep $500 or less in it. That way if something happens the worst that will happen will happen to that account and nothing else.

Thanks for all the help on this matter guys but I desided to make them myself  I got me a piece of K&S sheet brass. I'll measure the ones on my Tamyia Panther for the right size , I think it's time I did some scratch work , once again thanks.                                                    ACESES5              Bow Down

Way to go.

As previously mentioned,

(in the Befehls Panther G thread)

a fieldmod that could vary in structure.

Thin plastic sheet will work also.

Lucky Model charge extra for using PayPal, as I recall.  4% I believe.  Long time since I've used them.  I wouldn't trust their "backorder" timings.  I was watching a basket of things I wanted from them for nearly 6 months and none of the out-of-stocks ever came back into stock - in which time other things went out of stock and didn't come back. There have been very mixed reviews of LM's recent performance on various forums.  I eventually got my stuff elsewhere - at higher prices but at least I got it all.

If you're in the EU or US - and probably elsewhere too - you need to consider the possibility of customs charges: 25% in the UK.  Bigger packages are more likely to be rummaged.  LM offer the facility to fib about values on the paperwork: no one else does that AFAIK.  In the UK and perhaps elsewhere in the EU, packages from the far east are currently very likely to be opened because of the tsunami of illegal and counterfeit goods entering the UK from far east sources.  A recent order of mine direct from Legend in Korea was in Customs for 5 days and I got stung with £76 in charges - which was fair for the value, but an unwelcome extra cost.  A concurrent package from BNA in Australia sailed straight through.

I work on the principle that anything from outside the EU has to be at least 15% cheaper than from within the EU to be worth the customs charge risk - not forgetting that Royal Mail add on a fee too regardless of the duty value - or simply not be available in the EU. As I'm in the UK I may need to recalibrate that rule in a couple of years!

And I forgot to say, returning to the theme of the original question, that the Panther engine deck and turret roof armour could surely easily be scratchbuilt from plastic card, rod/tube and some bolt heads??  It's all flat plates with straight edges, apart from the turret roof shaping around the cupola.
