I know a TOW is a light vehicle mounted guided anti-tank type missle (or am I already wrong??), but what does TOW stand for?

Thanks.

Thanks a bunch!

Guess it would have been a bit unwieldy to use TLOTWG!!

I think they (whoever 'they' were) made the right choice

But it would have been the military way.

I heard a new one last night. The MEPP is a Mobile Electrical Power Plant. That's a fancy military term for Generator.

Now, here is the test for you!
what is the TOW due to be replaced by? THE LOSAT
The Line Of Sight Anti Tank missile-saw a movie, it is the coolest missle launch I have ever seen-no one stands a chance with a losat humvee around!---It finds the tank on its own without guidance

My brother works in the J-8, Joint Chief of Staff office at the Pentagon and about a month ago when we were taking about the LOSAT they had not given the Army the $$$$ for it yet, they were still evaluating its cost effective ness, we (the army) still have a but load of TOW IIB to shoot up. The JCS are really hounding the Army these days b/c of their requests for precision guided munitions, they are asking for way too much $ especially with all of the deployments we have.

FYI, Tow can be and is mounted on just about everything including the Bradley, which of course is not a light vehicle. It can also be ground mounted.

I knew some 0352s (TOW missilemen) in my younger USMC days and though it's supposedly man-portable, it is a bear to break down and carry...CAT/heavy guns had them mounted on their hardback hummers - mixed with .50s and Mk-19s...
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

The LOSAT I saw, was on an avenger style mount I think-on a humvee, and it was sitting in a parking lot-it shows the shot, then the missile flying, then starts over, with a vista of a city, and an old tank in the forground. out of the town comes a white streak
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no more tank

Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit. It makes safe drinking water out of basically any source of water such as a swamp, stagnant lake, stream etc.

FYI, the TOW has been mounted on all sorts of platforms going all the way back to the Vietnam war where they originally used them on helicopters. They put them on the old M274 Mule, the M151 Jeep, Cobras, M113s way back then. Hard to believe that missile system has been around for almost 4 decades.
