I have always wanted to build this kit, and from the moment I saw it, I knew how I wanted to display it. This is a great kit from Meng. The figures are Trumpter's Afghan rebel set, and barriers are from Maim.
Forgive my figure painting, I know I am crap at it, but I did the best I could, and that is all I can do.
I used Tamiya, Vallejo, Italeri acrylics, Gunze metalizer and Vallejo metal color for Vehicle and gun. Flory sand wash for all the weathering including base. Some oil paints to weather the barriers.
I had great fun with this project from beginning to end.
I have wondered about Meng pickups. Not my genre but still very well done. Your figures look good, the eyes are ALWAYS tough in small scale but it would catch my eye on a contest table. Keep up the good work.
we're modelers it's what we do
The truck and base came out looking pretty nice. Good job on them. I did notice the front drive shaft is missing on the truck in the underside pic though.
The figures are not really your fault. The painting of them is acceptable, but the figures themselves are horrible. Their poses look like zombies. Unfortunately, Trumpeter is not known for good figures.
Yes, the Meng pickups are very nice. I recommend them all.

Very nice build and display. Your figure painting skills are actually good. And as armornut already stated, eyes in that scale are difficult.

Maybe that part was left out of the kit so MENG could say that it's not a Toyota. [laugh]

Your diorama is excellent! The figures are great, they compliment the Meng Kit. Great job, and it's very unique. Not some thing you see everyday.

Looks good.
Would not surprise me is many "technicals" are missing prop shafts.
The figures look pretty good, given that Trumpy's sculptor seems to have interrupted an unpromising career in cigar store indian carving (and clean missed the fact that the heel end of shoes are almost invariably mushed down flat in that part of the world).
Bravo

Nice try, but no, the prop shaft is in the kit. It is complete.
Thanks for the heads up.....I totally overlooked that step in the instructions, it is now in.

Grant - Very nicely done, your figures look really good to my eyes. I'm doing the Tamiya 1:72 WWll jeep and 2 1/2 ton utility truck, to accompany the Williams Bros. C-46. First ever vehicle builds, not as easy as I had imagined.
Your camo and overall finish work is first rate, thanks for the post and photos.

Great job there, looks dirty and worn but not too much.
And the figures look fine to me, it's just the molding is well- as pointed out before just a bit stiff.
