Gamera, Clint, Griffin - thanks a lot for your kind words!

Clint - I wasn't building every possible variand as in /something here, I believe that could take a lifetime or more! I only wanted to have a comparison between the Ausf's. And I didn't build the Ausf. B because I thought there just weren't enough differences between it and the Ausf. A. But now I can see and show the progression from A, to C, to D, and that was what I wanted to do!

Thanks again and have a nice day

She looks right at home with the others. That pioneer is really nice looking I keep wanting to do that camo scheme on something. Also completed? You have about 15 other variants to do for it to be a complete set lol.

RX7850, Clint - thanks a lot for your encouragement. I don't say you should only be nice all the time. I'm aware my camo could be better and it will be, I'm going to work on it. I'm just a bit amazed by this total negativity my fellow Polish modellers have shown me.

In the meantime I have completed the Ausf. D. Here's what it looks like:

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

And this completes my collection - heres how my babies look like together:

1:72 Sd. Kfz. 251 collection by Pawel

1:72 Sd. Kfz. 251 collection by Pawel

Thanks for looking, I hope you liked it - have a nice day

Rx is right don't worry about what others say about it if your happy that's all that matters. I stopped posting on another site because of a mostly airplane modeler who use to also be on this site and run his own would not stop harassing me over a tiger I built from a SS division. I guess I should of been ashamed of myself for modeling a SS subject and I wasn't the only one he was harassing too, mods never done anything so I just left that was like 5 years ago. This site has always been very friendly and I only post here now.

Pawel

Hello!

Thanks a lot for your kind words! I'm glad you like it. Meanwhile, on the Polish forum I got comments like "Tragedy!", "You'd been better off leaving it Dunkelgelb" and "Should be repainted ASAP". Just goes to show you different points of view...

While I see the faults of this paint job I rather like it, so I'm really glad I'm not alone!

Best greetings and have a nice day

Paweł

I like your paint job. And so long as you like it who cares  about those arragant comments from that forum. Those are the type of personalities that annoy me about this hobby. Looking forward to seeing it done .

Pawel, "lather, rinse, repeat" the only way to master something is to continue to do the work and learn from the boo boos. I don't see anything that can't be fixed, or left as is because YOU like it.

I applaud folks who use an airbrush on 1/72 stuff, I muff up 35th and bigger, I would LOVE to hear the trash talk about my 72nd attempt LOL.

Your happy, I think they look great. Keep it up sir.

we're modelers it's what we do

Clint, Gamera - thanks a lot for your kind words! While I see the faults of my paint job and I'll try to do even better next time, the aura of negativity on the Polish forum bothers me a bit. I for myself am quite satisfied with what I've got and I don't think I could easily repaint it to be better this time. Like I wrote, that's not to say it's perfect now -there's still room for improvement and I'll try to improve - some day.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day

Rambo
It's a small scale that makes it harder to begin with plus most of the real ones was painted in the field by 20 year olds in a hurry with things like a rag on a stick or a mop if lucky maybe close to a panzer IV or a tiger with a air compressor and spray gun.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Nice work!

Hello!

Took a lot of time, but I tried to paint camo on my D Ausf. Hanomag. Setting up my airbrush for such a thin line took a lot of tweaking, but here are the results:

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

I hope you like them - thanks for reading and have a nice day

Hello!

Gamera - thanks a lot for your kind words! This kit sure has a level of detail that 1/35 models once used to have. I'm glad you like it!

RX7850 - Those Dragon 1:72 half tracks are really nice, so it was a good decision to stash them. I really had to look hard to find my kit and it was hidden in a dark corner of a warehouse somewhere in the rural Germany! I mean literally!

Have a nice day

Looking really nice so far Pawel. Nice to see you banging these out. I have quite a few of their 250 D and C s itterations sitting in the stash so it they are becoming a rarity I should be good.

Looks great Pawel. It may seem trite to say but yeah I'd have thought it were 1/35th if you hadn't stated otherwise.

Hello everybody!

In the meantime (and it's been a lot of time) I started building Dragons 1:72 Ausf. D. That kit is hard to get now, OOP for some years, but the detail quality is excellent. Here's what I have so far:

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

1:72 Dragon Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. D by Pawel

Thanks for lookin' and have a nice day

Pawel, i just checked my books and that page is indeed from the Squadron 251 in action, i had not checked that book for a while. And indeed that pic top right certainly has a scheme very similar to yours. So, now you indeed have proof.

WEll, if it works, its good. I can just imagine German troops useing brooms especially for applying white wash.

I look forward to seeing more of your 251's. I currently have 30 35th kits, adding 2 more soon when the ICM kit is released, and always look forward to seeing them in any scale.

Gamera, Bish - if I could help you in any way with this thread, I'm very glad!

Dwayne - yeah, right - get to it! I build a lot in 1:72, but not much from WWII. Now I want to build another Hanomag, this time the D version. I've got a kit from Dragon.

Bish - about thirty years ago I used a broom made of young birch twigs to apply whitewash. To trees, mind you, not to tanks!

Have a nice day

"A hand painted camo - yes. But painted with a local mud and a bunch of rags."

I amend my previous post to "there are the rags, there is the mud.  Get to it."

Anyway, I still really like it.  Sounds like you are going to do some more in this scale?

D

Don't forget mops and brushes, wasn't unknown to use those to apply camo as well.

Pawel

Hello Bish!

It will be interesting to see you do such a camo.

I don't really know where this page comes from - I have it from here:

Thanks a lot for your comment and have a nice day

Its just the way the captions are written make me thing Squadron, but its not one i recall from any of the books i have. I am especially interested in that pic because its the Heavy MG version and i have yet to decide what scheme to do my Ausf C HMG vehcile in, so might well do that. So thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks Pawel. I have the first two of those Squadron books Bish refers to and remember them talking about the mud camo but had forgotten about it at the time. Thanks for clearing that up!

I know the feeling pawel, but sometimes you feel like you just have to explain it. I am looking to do some of these rough schemes on some of my 251's just to get away froim the normal camo.

That image you posted, the one on the left is a great example of mud camo. I take it that page is from one of the Squyadron books?
