 Sorry I sent you tracking in the wrong direction Dwayne. When I said the port side needed reversal I was using my point of view as a reference - left side of the picture in this case. I should have said starboard side or (as oriented in U.S.) - the passenger side.

Well that was a complete rookie mistake.

Rookie mistake? LOL... I built 30 some tanks/tracked wehicles and on my last one I reversed the tracks

D, I'm fairly new to building armor myself.  Your desert dusting is awesome!  Really looks great.  LOL!  I would never had picked out the track issue.  The armor guys here are super!  I have learned so much from all of them.  But I still have not been brave enough to do indiv. link tracks.  .

No need. I've been building German armour for longer than i care to remember. On every build i spend quite a bit of time checking referance books to ensure the tracks go on the right way. Your not the first and you certainly won't be the last.

Thats what i was thinking. Just an idea ofr the next build, especially if you want to show build up of dust particulally around wheel rims and on sharp angles. Mix some pigment with a small bit of water and a tiny drop of washing up liquid and apply it. It will look messy. But once dry you can use a stiff old brush to remove as much or as little as you want.

You would be surprised at how much dust can build up on armour in just a short time.

 

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will try it.  There were spots on the model where the pigment showed brush streaks, and was not the effect I was looking for...looked more like mud than dust.  So this is a very helpful suggestion.

Quick question, how did you apply the pigment.

 

I started by using a desert wash by Vallejo.  Dip the brush in the wash and then pigment, and apply.  Then I went over some spots with just a wet brush to try to make it a little more uniform.  Finally, just pigment on a dry brush.

Yeah she looks good to me. The track shouldn't be too hard to pop off and replace. Nice work with the dusty, sandy look.

I think Disaster Master is referring to you have your tracks on opposed. One is oriented one way, and the other side in the opposite way. M vs. W on the link orientation. Reverse one of them to correct that.

 

 

 

Well, guess I coulda been a bit more clear on that. The port side track should be reversed and a bit of work done on the link up(s).

The track material would dictate the type of fix needed to reconnect the tracks properly.

This turned out nice and should be worth some aftermarket tracks if the kit version doesn't work out for you.

No need to worry about the phone camera for your photos. What I would suggest is using a plain background to remove any distractions from your subject. A piece of poster board, or a plain solid color bed sheet draped over something will bring all the attention to your build and not the background.
