Color photos exist of clearly repainted WW2 equipment in USMC forrest green in theater.  Regarding OD or USMC Green -- "it depends"

USMC M-2A4's and M-3's were acquired from the Army so were painted in AGF OD, as per Jim Mesko's US Armor: Camouflage and Markings WW2 book.  Those on Guadalcanal still carried Army serial numbers, such as the famous photo of two Marines and their M-3, MC 301.
