Flat clear coats/ flat over coats

I reciently finished the tamiya T-55 tank. I painted it with an enamel testors russian green color, which was great except for the glossy appearance it gave my tank. I figured that was good in the beginning because I wouldn't have to add Future to decail spots. I than sprayed the tank with testors clear flat to seal the pastel work, decails, and wash's. The Testors coat however really didn't flatten the finish too much so I put another coat on. This improved the finish but it still wasn't as flat as I'd like it to be. I sprayed more clear coat on and got my flat finish, but you can allmost see the layer of clear coat on the model. Also to add to the chaos on my last coat the clear coat pooled in some areas, giving the finish a wavy, uneven effect that looks terrible. It doesn't look like I can save this model ($50) however I'd like to solve the problems.
If any one knows of a good clear flat besides testors that works better please let me know.

yep.......... you cant really make it go flat. what i do is cut away all the clear edging of the decal so u wont need a gloss coat. i built a m60a2 and the same thing happend. what i did is go over the glossy parts with a dark pastel and it looks pretty good. if you sprayed the whole tank with future than i dont know what to say. i hope that help..... it probably doesnt lol

If you would like to start over drop your model into some four stripper. The stuff they use to remove wax of of vinel floars. It will remove enamel's with out attacking the plastic of the model.

I use Micro-Set & Micro-Sol to force the decals to snuggle down on the tank. These products also help in eliminating "silver" edges when I spray dullcote. I've had bad results when I spray dullcote over pastels. It always seems to ruin the effect created by the chalk dust. How long did you wait after spraying the first shot of dullcote before you sprayed the subsequent coats? 24 hrs is usually the time to wait before spraying additional coats. You can use Fume Free oven cleaner to strip the paint from the model if you want to repaint the tank. If you do this, use a large container and a small, soft brush. I've stripped several bad paint jobs using oven cleaner.
