1/72 Trumpeter M113
Posted by Griffin25 on Sunday, November 26, 2017 2:18 PM

I built this for the Weekend Madness build. I spent 11 hours on it. I have to say Trumpeters 1/72 is more like 1/87 or HO scale. It came out ok. It's tough when you're trying to finish in an allotted time frame! It was fun however. Thanks for looking.

Hello!

How do you mean that with the HO scale?

The model is looking good in the photos, though!

I don't think making models on schedule is such a good idea... Especially not when you have a job besides that!

Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Paweł

I think she came out real nice considering you had limited time to finish . When you said it was more like 1/87 scale did you mean you found it to be under scale,  just curious.  Hope to see you do more in this scale.

Thanks Pawel. HO scale is 1/87 scale. It's a popular train scale. Trumpeter claims this it is 1/72 scale. If it was it would about 35MM tall. It is only about 27MM tall. The real vehicle is about 2.5 meters tall.

I think he means the quality of the kit is more in line with the old Rocco kits.

You've done a good job; I've got a couple of them and thought they looked a little too simple compared to modern Revell kits.

Just one pointer; the inner headlights on each side should be black to represent the IR lenses.

Thanks bud and thanks for the tip! I didn't know that and the box art doesn't show it. I did zero research I just picked the easiest kit I had and went for it. Lol

Hello!

It confuses me a little about the scale - this dude here:

http://www.onthewaymodels.com/reviews/Trumpeter/M113A3_prev.htm

Writes that the scale of the Trumpeter model is mostly OK.

Anyway, some day I'll build my 1:72 M113!

Have a nice day

Time limit or not, that came out quite nice.  I am sure there are things you spent less time on than you would have liked, but I think it looks pretty good.  Good job!

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Bish, Man city: Thank you.

RX, Pawel: Pawel you are right. After doing some research, this kit ish right on the money as far as scale. 1/72. I was wrong. The height dimension I used as a reference was to the top of the machine gun not the hull. The length and height are right on the money for 1/72nd scale. It just looks small to me when I compare to 1/72nd figures I have so I had a biased opinion going in. Pawel you know your stuff!

Griffin25 - thanks a lot for your kind words!

I'm glad it all falls together - if that kit wasn't in scale i'd have a real problem! :-)

Good luck with your builds and have a nice day
