My son got me the Italeri/WoT Elephant two years ago.  I was struck by the very inaccurate markings in the kit.  Although I do not mind Italeri kits, and get a great deal of satisfaction improving them, those markings turned me off from any WoT kit.

Inaccurate from a real WW2 Elefant or from the World of Tanks in game vehicle? I believe these kits were issued to look like their in game version and not a real life tank. Sort of like Dragon's Girls und Panzers anime reissues; they come with the markings from the cartoon show and not actual versions.

I agree, build it to represent an "in game" tank. I used to play Microsoft's Fighter Ace and I had to cobble together two different 1/48 scale Spitfires to replicate my particular aircraft, and I doubt it was an accurate representation of an actual Spirtfire mark.

If you play the game I think I'd just build the Italeri Tiger like my in game tank without worry about if it's accurate or not. Then build one of your other Tigers to a more accurate real world AFV.

Just my two cents anyhow.

Of the available Tiger kits, the old Italeri kit was low on the list, well below most of the more recent kits by other companies. It's the World of Tanks tie in and the exclusive stuff inside that is the draw. These kits are aimed at the casual modeler who wants to make a real world version of their in game tank and not concerned with the accuracy of the kit.

This is kind of what I figured. I guess it will go to the back of the line...a very long line lol.

Italeri originally did two versions of the Tiger (E/H1 and E Late), one with and one without zimmerit. Their zimmerit was rather thick and because of this, made for some dimensional errors. The non-zimmerit Tiger is supposedly better. That's the one I have and built in the 90s. I've read that the kits are some sort of a mix between versions, but not being an expert, I don't really know what the issues are.

This Tiger is a rebox of the Italeri kit originally released back in '94.

It takes a little love to sort out the mish-mash of details they threw into the kit in order to make it more accurate to specific production runs of the Tiger. Throw in a bit of kitbashing or scratchbuilding to sharpen up other details as well and you have a typical Italeri kit.

So a friend got me the Italeri world of tanks tiger 1 kit in 1/35 for Christmas.

On the surface it is a great gift, because I love models, I love the Tiger 1, and I really enjoy playing world of tanks...

But what can be expected from this kit? I haven't opened it and do not intend to if it isn't worth while, as I have 5 really great Tiger 1 kits already.

I have 2 from Academy, 2 from Rye Field, and 1 from Dragon.

Anyone know the ins and outs of this kit? Can't seem to find much in the way of reviews online, aside from a few finished products clearly done by fans of the game and not models...which isn't a great representation I wouldn't think...but maybe it is?

I do know italeri have had some real stinkers and absolutely love to rebox really old molds...

Any info/insight is appreciated.
