Stug III ausf D Africa

If you haven't seen this already, (or is it your post on another forum?), it's about all I've got;

It may have been only on this one vehicle. Interesting that the one photo shows the vehicle arriving in North Africa with this modification, rather than being done later in the field.

I don't appear to have any other photos in my collection.

Osprey's; Modelling the Sturmgeschutz III, covers a build of a Sonderverband 288 vehicle in great detail, but gives no mention of the boxes. 

There is some discussion that the boxes might just be empty storage crates slung over the filters, to be removed and used as needed at a later time.

Yeah, I have seen all of those pics.  Was nice to get a larger version of the one being lowered from the ship though.  I can see them being used as a protective cover for shipping, but some of the pics show them on (a) vehicle(s) in service. I've got pics of the same vehicle with the boxes and with them removed. I'm thinking maybe one actually had box type filters. The filters on the the restored stug are basically a custom fabrication that don't look correct.  I think I'll go ahead and scratch build the box type as best I can interpret them from the pics available. Thanks for your reply.

An interesting side note is that the Cargo ship Thessalia, that unloaded the stug, was sunk off the coast of Libya 11/11/42 by british bombers.
