Ethiopian T-55
Posted by Griffin25 on Sunday, March 4, 2018 3:46 PM

I finished this up today for the Soviet armor group build. It represents a Ethiopian T-55 during the 1998 -2000 Ethiopian Eritrean war. It was a brutal war with both sides having  up to 100'000 casualties. It's the Tamiya T-55. Great kit. Thanks for looking.

Hello!

Lookin' good! Operating a tank under the African sun must be a lot harder than it normally is, and I heard it's hard work even in good weather. Nice touch with one of those barrels - colour variation! I wonder why they didn't repaint the tank in some lighter colour - if they really operated in some very dry area sand or something like that would be better camouflage.

Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Paweł

Eithiopia has some verdant areas (not usre about the combat zone v. Eritrea)
But, their tracks are probably painted for this sort of terrain:

This dio does capture the treeless nature of the border areas, though

Excellent Work!  It looks like a dusty beast.

Pawel: Thank you sir. Both sides in that war had all kinds of equipment painted in all sorts of manner. I've seen a few different pictures where they used rattle can camoflauge even.

Capn: Yes there are many green areas and also a lot of dry brown areas with brilliantly green tree's and foliage. It's quite unique. I learned a lot on my deep dive into this war and the two countries. Very interesting. There are some interesting, and graphic, videos on Youtube produced in either Ethiopia or Eritrea. Couldn't figure it out. If you search "Tsenona Front".

Ridle: I appreciate the kind words.

I really like this. Great details and the figures are wonderfully done and add quite a bit
