2 questions. Did the figures come with the kit, and what did you use for the white wash?

 

 

 

 

Bish, the figures came with the kit. For the whitewash I used Vallejo Rust and Chipping Effects (71.186) which Hobby Lobby carries, and Vallejo Grauweiss RAL9002. After applying the camouflage, I sealed the tank with a flat coat, applied the chipping medium, then the white wash, and began to ”distress“ it with a combination of stiff brushes. After everything dried, I repeated the process to add a little depth/build-up to the white wash. Hope this helps! 

 

Thanks for the info Udel. Thats one problemw ith doing Dragon and AFV club kits, you don't often get figures with them.

Very nicely done, really like the effect. I'm doing my first armour white wash later this year.

I like it when you guys add a crew, makes the vehical come to life.

1943Mike, The whitewash was a white water-based paint the Germans and Allies applied to their vehicles to help with camouflaging in winter. He is modeling a Nashorn that has lost most of that coating through wear, weather, and harsh conditions. Perhaps it's at the end of winter and that's all of the whitewash that remains on the vehicle. Looks great to me.

As a newbie (finished one kit) to armor, what does the whitewash effect signify? Is it like a large section of the camo worn away exposing a lighter color base coat? Sorry for the ignorance here... like I said, I'm trying to learn a little about armor.

Never tried a whitewash, but i like how yours turned out, Agree the the crew members really set it off. Another solid build.
