I see, I’m considering buting another M47 and making my Hessler tiger
Tankluver Hey how did you go about painting hesslers Tiger. What was your base coat and then what did you do for your second and shading?

I just painted it with with basic German Gray, can't remember the brand.Didnt do shading, just dusted with Mig pigments Europe Dust, and rust pigments on muffler.
It looks better than their "tiger".
I read somewhere that the lyrics to panzerlied are written on The walls of the Austrian training rooms for their panzer crew members to look at and memorize. Speaking of denazifiation i remember a few years ago reading of how the Germans had in their version of a Ranger Handbook discussed ways to make fortifications while in cold weather. Somewhere it said something like “in the fighting on the eastern from German soldiers did...” and some politician got upset and tried to say that it was praising the ***.
Indeed, the German armed forces Minister banned this song in 2017 as part of further denazification!
When you listen to the original song it is slower and more sombre than the modern arrangements and certainly doesn't have the brass and percussion Wagnerian type March arrangements that you do associate with Hitler's Reich.
Still, I do like the movie and modern arrangements and they do stir the blood. I have another song for you which has a very interesting history to it which is very much a talking point with '40's re-enactment groups here in the UK... My next post on this thread!
It's a tanker's song. There is a picture of the King Tiger's and the caption has the word Bundswher. Definitely not Nazi; that was the German Army after WWII.
I love the version of that complete Japanese orchestra performing it,then thst conductor gets the audience involved, very cool.
Of course I don't know the words,is it considered a Nazi song, perhaps banned in places,or a German patriotic tune,or just a tankers song.
Here we go... I just have to!

Hey Tojo, nice work on that M47/King Tiger. Colonel Hessler would have loved it and I got "Panzerlied" humming in my head too. Once I discovered Archer Fine Transfers I try to use those exclusively when it comes to armor.
I think that it was a very successful attempt, Tojo. Keep at it and you'll crack the dry transfer mist. I don't seem to have any issues using them at all!
snapdragonxxx Damnit, Tojo! I've got the bloody march going through my head now! I'll never get to sleep! Great model!

Thanks,by the way,one of my attempts at Archer dry transfers
Oh that looks awesome Tojo!
Tankluver: Wish I could help but no idea- still best of luck to you- love the idea!

Love it!
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
A few years ago I used the Revell M-47,it was a decent kit
so i got testors old M47 Patton and just finished building it. I’m going to do a what if cold War diorama. But it really got me thinking about doing a battle of the bulge movie build. Which M47 kit would y’all recommend for this. I know Takom came out with a few variants, which one would be best. Also i saw awhile ago a manufacture was going to release the Hessler tiger tank as a lot but it seems to not have come to fruition. Can someone help?
