Thanks gents! Looking at this build versus my first from around two months ago there is a night and day difference lol. Im really starting to get my weathering dialed in. I think id use the hair spray method again in the future, as the chipping affect it produces i like more so than chipping with a brush or sponge and paint. Next up is a 1/1200 Sharnhorst battleship which I should have done in the next day or two.

She looks pretty darn good to me!!!
I've said here before my first 1/35th tank was friggin' horrid looking. Congrads!!!

She finished up real nice.
I think you did a great job on this kit. The weathering is especially well done. Looks super dusty, like it should, but not overdone. I also really like the weld seams you added.
Dwayne or Dman or just D. All comments are welcome on my builds.
I'm not an armor builder but that looks cool. Maybe a base to put it in context.
Thanks,
John
Finished up the weathering today. Got a bit too carried away in a couple spots in the pigments, theres a bit of a learning curve when applying them ive noticed lol.. My light makes it look alot lighter than it really is. I finished it off with a misting of Tamiyas Buff to tie the weatehring together. All in all im happy, I breathed some life back into this old kit
It's looking very good. This old Tamiya kit builds up nice.
By the way, you do not have to wait 24 hrs. for the hairspray to dry. As soon as the hairspray is dry usually 15-20 minutes I shoot the other colors and distress within the hour.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Your makeing a nice job of this old kit.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I decided to give the hair spray trick a go. I put on a nice even layer, aloud it to dry 24 hours or so, then sprayed a light layer of Tamiya Desert Yellow. A couple spots came off a bit too much, but I also know that most of the vehicles that were shipped to North Africa showed up German Grey then sprayed the Desert Yellow. Chalk it up as a field paint job and a year in combat
Id use this trick again, just gotta be careful how much pressure you apply with the tooth brush lol

Heres a closer look at the turret, they are a bit to defined in some spots, i know the panzer 2's had really clean welds, but hey, I like to think the welder at the factory that day was hung over lol

Thanks guys! Theres a couple on the turret that look a bit too pronounced, but im happy with it for being my first time trying weld seams. By the time I got down to do the seams on the hull I had it figured out (they look a lot better imo..) lol
Oh cool, the weld seems came out well!
Got the remaining pieces put on, and started the paint with some Nato black.

Just about down to paint! decided to take a wack at sprue stretching and making weld seams since this kit lacks any.
" target=""> " target=""> Good practice run, I see it takes a bit of patience to really get them to look their best. When Igot down to the seams around the main plate on the front of the hull which was the last seams i did they turned out the best. I also have a sweet headache from the glue fumes . good learning process though! " target=""> " target=""> " target=""> " target="">

Looks good!!!
I can see your photos just fine now.
BTW: I use Image Shack. Not sure if they're the best but I've been using them for about a year so far. I don't remember what I paid for my yearly subscription but it's worth it to get away from the ads on PhotoBucket. When I last used it the pop-up ads were so bad the site was almost unusable.
small update, got all the road wheels completed and the turret put together. also threw in a pic of the Albion 3-point refueler i recently finished up.

Tanker, not sure how you are managing to post pics from PB, but i would deffinetly try a different one. I am useing Flickr and yes it is free. take a bit of getting use to, but much better than PB IMHO.
Are those other sites free to use as well? Photobuckets UI in my opinion is terrible and its so cluttered with ads id gladely use a different sevice to upload.
You can tell this is an old kit, but for its age the detail isnt bad. Ill also be using hairspray for the first time to do my weathering effects so ill be curious to see how well itll look.
Yep, it works. I do dislike Photobucket - I used them exclusively until the debacle. Now I use Flickr (mostly) and Postimage. Both, to me, are far better than Photobucket but since it works for you, what does it matter?
Anyway, only having built one armor kit and with no armor experience/knowledge, I now like to lurk on the dark side from time to time. I think this is an interesting kit and will follow along intermittently.
not sure if this worked, i uploaded to phtobucket and used the URL links
TankerEasy Im not, I just copied the image then pasted it in the text block, ive done that before and it worked, now it doesnt seem to work at all.

As GM said, it works for your Avatar but not posting pics in threads.
Try a free trial on Fotki. It isn't free forever, but it's not expensive and I find it fast and easy to use with no ads.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Toshi Rob Gronovius I can't see your photos either. I found one I had built over ten years ago, maybe closer to 20. It is a great little kit to just knock out and under $10 s a good starter kit. Wow! A Tamiya kit for under $10.00. Can’t see your photos, but knowing you you’ll have this issue resolved in a very short time. I’m looking forward to this build! Your friend, Toshi
