Stik, thanks. I agree, trying to do my best. Big Smile

Pawel, a broken cable is a possibility, good idea.

Russ - I like the idea with the cables a lot. You might even have one of them frayed or broken. Rob once wrote what pain working with those tow cables is - maybe your dio could convey that. Whatever you decide - good luck and have a nice day

I like where this is going. Lebanon 1982 is a neglected area for modeling subjects, but rich in possibilities.

Thanks Pawel. Yes, I used a Vallejo "desert sand" wash and then a light sand pigment, also Vallejo, the get the colors looking less garish. I even did a very small amount of chipping, using a 3M Scotchbrite pad before the wash and pigment. Fuel and oil stains were done with Vallejo (surprise) "oiled earth" wash. Quick and easy.

I'm thinking: have the T-55 tow cables hooked to the front, on the ground, as if a recovery attempt was interrupted, leaving the easily repairable T-55 as a donor to the Tiran program.

Hello Russ!

I like the camo a lot more now - I think you have blended the colours together somewhat! The dio idea is very interesting, too! Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Yup, 1982 thereabouts.

So, it's almost finished, just need to decide the final placement of the tow cables, as I'm planning on showing it being pushed off the road, or just out of the way, by the Magach 5 I recently almost finished, using the push bar on front, roughed out below:

And a few of just the T-55:

This kit was so much fun, I'm already shopping for another.

The turret in camo, not yet sealed. I may try and feather the edges a bit, not sure.

Is this going to be a Syrian tank?

Hello!

Looks funny - the T-55s I'm used to were all plain army green!

Good luck with your build and have a nice day!

Finally, green:

Finishing the turret was a breeze, all OOB except for a DEF gun tube and handrails from brass wire.

I'm pretty sure I'm done with the hull, so I moved on to the turret, starting with the easy stuff, like the gun and all those little tie downs on the back of the turret. And since I use a rattle can I brushed in some dark green in all the places that are hard to get with a spray, something I do occasionally now, makes it easier later on.

I think the fuel drums are kind of neat looking, and since the only other T-55 I've ever done was a Tiran, this is my chance to use them.

Hello!

I just took a walk around the Poznań Citadel (a fascinating place!) and took a close look at the T-55 on a free display there (photo off the internet):

Made me think of your build!

Good luck with it and have a nice day

M. Brindos

You're definitely making me want a 50's era T-55 for my collection, Russ.

My cold war collection needs expansion lol.

But... needs more dirt. LOL

That's funny right there, "needs more dirt".....

Mike, I agree, no Cold War display/collection is complete without a T-55 or three, gotta have it. I'm thinking that after this one is wound up I'll be dusting off the T-62 I stopped work on a couple of years ago.

Hello!

Lookin' good! Some time ago, like last summer or so, I've been llokin' at a T-55 standing at a museum here in Poznań and I have noticed those fuel lines, and I remember thinking: "modelling that would be interesting..."

I also have a colleague at work who often tells stories from his time in the Polish military - and he was a T-55 tanker (it were the mid-nineties). I believe he could be a good source should you have any trick questions here.

Good luck with your build and have a nice day!

So I sucked it up and went back for more, finishing the tanks and starting the tool boxes. After about two hours my eyes are done.

Pliers with square jaws do help. A good source of this kind of piping are the leads on resistors. It's some kind of really soft alloy, the things are cheap too. Lord. I miss Radio Shack, even in it's dumb later years.

Yep, years back when there were not that many paces and no internet I bought electronic things there that still work to this day. Kind of funny that madin in Japan used to be a slur.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:
