For ’82 Lebanon era, the IDF site that I’m on recommends a mix of Medium Gray XF-20 and Buff XF-57 in a 50/50 ratio.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

stikpusherThe most current shade is close to Tamiya RLM Gray.
Have you looked at walk-arounds from Yad La-Shiryon? Like all museums, the stuff is probably repainted, but there are some older condition vehicles.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Theuns I need to paint my Maghac in IDF sand grey, is there a tamiya acrylic out the tin that is a close match? Thanx Theuns

What time period? The IDF sand gray has changed markedly over the years. The most current shade is close to Tamiya RLM Gray. The older shades such as Lebanon 1982 or the 1967 & 1973 wars were each different.
Thanx for the replies.
I tried tamiya buff over a black and white base, the shadows worked well but the colour looked to grey to me, not yellow enough.
Then I googled more pix and settled on the sainai scheme with the green heu to it.
I mixed in some humbrol 155 into the tamiya buff , this made a nice green with some brown tones in it.
I rather like this mix.
The tone between natural light and ndoors is quite different. My camera does however not reflect the colour so well.
It's an old, old reference and pre-dates some newer paint releases, but it may help.

Sorry, I don't think Tamiya have one. Vallejo Model Air have both colours in their range, and I believe there might be an Israeli paint set available. They are accurate to original paint chips too.
