Double bonus! Nice work. They are sure too make an impressive pair.

I seem to remember a story from somewhere how 3 Jagdtigers held up a large American advance on their own. Tried to find it, as i thought it would make good reading for someone who had just grabbed one! Perhaps someone else knows what I am trying to remember?

Just for the record, I heard the Porsche tracks are more difficult than the Henschel version to construct. It would be nice if Tamiya would come out with an updated one.

Are you converting the 1/16th RC Kingtiger or are you going to try the 1/35th?
If you are serious about trying to convert a 1/16th Kingtiger into a Jagdtiger you will need some research material
If it’s to convert a 1/35th Kingtiger into a Jagdtiger, just go and get the Dragon kit. It would be cheaper in money and sanity

The Angles of the side are steeper on the Jagdtiger than the Kingtiger

I built one back in the early 80s or so and still have it. I agree it is an ancient kit and would not recommend it to anyone as a serious model kit unless it was the only game in town. Tracks have only one side to them, the hull was designed to pop apart to change batteries, look through the hatches and you can see right through the vehicle.

I found an incomplete builder's kit of one on eBay that I have been using to replace missing parts that my mom vacuumed up while it was sitting on my old dresser for the better part of 20 years.

The Tamiya "hunting tiger" hull is too short , its an old outdated kit, probably from the seventies , If you want an accurate one go with revell or dragon . Dragon has 2 versions avail. the porsche , and the henschell The latter version was accepted by hitler as the one to go with , as the porsche version had suspension problems , it took a lot of wheels and springs to hold up almost 80 tons The hunting tiger was just an assault gun ( not turning turret) much like the stug or jagdpanther, while the smaller 2 of the 3 were quite effective , the jagdtiger was manned by inexperienced crews , using a machine without the bugs worked out yet , they constantly broke down ,and used fuel to excess , most were destroyed by thier own crews after . Plus this all occured shortly before germany's surrender , so supply lines were a big problem.

I wouldn't mess with converting a tiger 1 into a Jagdtiger (whoa what a conversion!Shock [:O]). I'd go with Dragon's.

Yup. The Tiger II used an 88mm L71, whereas the Tiger I had used the 88mm L56.

I agree on the Dragon suggestion -- it's a nice and fairly basic kit.

the Tamiya kit is to short too
if you want a Jagdtiger go for the Dragon or Revel ones (there the same)
the Dragon Porshe Jagdtiger has lots and lots of bit for the tracks (Henshel ones got nicer tracks)

i could bore you with the stats but its 3am over here Sleepy [|)]

I built the Tamiya Jagdtiger about a hundred years ago and still have it in my display case. I believe it's currently out of production. Dragon has released two versions and from what I've read in this community they are both very good kits. The Tamiya kit is from the "motorization" period.

Hello thundergod,

A Jagdtiger, or "Hunting Tiger" was basically built on a lengthened King Tiger chassis. The Jagdtiger also had no traversing turret, so I'm curious to see what kit you're looking at. I'm sure a lot of the other Germanfreaks in the forum are sure to wade in and provide you with much more specific data on the Jagdtiger.

Hunting tiger???

I noticed on some of the older taimya kits they show a hunting tiger which to me looks as if the only difference is the barrel and mantel. is there any other differences from this to the king tiger? Also they do not produce this kit anymore so is there a after market parts you could get to recofigure it to a hunting tiger? Or would just cutting off the muzzle brake work cause I do believe I have a mantel that is the correct one huh ideas flow as I type anyway I was just wondering.
