WW II German Panzer Gray camo.
Posted by IBuild148 on Thursday, January 30, 2020 1:31 PM

Did WW II german Vehicles that were painted in German Gray ever get a secondary color for a camouflage scheme?

I am building Tamiya's 1/35 Scale S.GL.Einheits Personen Kraft-Wagen Horch 4X4.

I have it painted in German gray but want to do a camo scheme but don't know if that would be accurate.

thank you

Pre and very early war there was a 1/3rd covering of brown, can't recall the exact RAL number off the top of my head. This was phased out in 1939 though the offical order did not come out until July 40 and vehicles in France still had this scheme.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Vehicles sent to Africa also had the tropen colors applied over the dark gray base. Vehicles is Russia had the tropen colors applied on occasion as a secondary camo pattern, or in some cases later after early 1943 the new three color camo to match local conditions. And of course there is the whitewash used in winter time over the gray base color.
