Accessories added to Sherman
Posted by Lonwuff on Thursday, February 27, 2020 12:53 PM

Hi, I'm back into modeling after 55 years with my first attempt winning a blue ribbon. I'm now building my second which is a M4E8 "easy eight" which has a large grill on the rear. I bought a packs and cases/box accessories but would I have to keep the grill clear of any accessory that would block it?

For the most part yes. That is the air intake grill for the cooling fans. If blocked completely, the vehicle will overheat. Some smaller stowage there is reasonable, but not too much.

Thanks stikpusher, that makes sense to me. The others I've seen must have been earlier models with a different grill set-up.

The M4 and M4A1 had a more solid engine deck with a solid armored top intake cover instead of armored grills. More stowage was possible.

Value Gear offers all kinds of differnet stowage, including Sherman specific.  Here is their example setup for the Easy 8:
