No, I haven't built that one yet, but I did use one of their sets for a protze truck (along with a few other misc bits from them and my spare box. It's very effective.

Thanks guys!
Matt, these Tamiya 1/48 kits are excellent. I just with that they had introduced the line back in the late 80s.
Greg, you should look into these kits because they can look good next to 1/48 aircraft. The Tamiya 1/48 vehicle kits are beautifully detailed.
Wai, that stowage set looks very impressive. Have you built it up yet?
PJ, I never thought of it that way, but I like that reasoning.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

As you completed it for the club challenge it was a vehicle fresh off the ship in Tripoli but the weathering done afterwards really ties tings up. Well done stik.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
looking good, I have that version with the luftwaffe figures. I also have the blackdog resin set of this
2 weeks late to a 4 hr build. About par for me.
Interesting concept, and you pulled it off. The extra time later sure paid off.
I didn't know kits like these existed in 1/48th. Would look good next to some same-scale German aircraft.
Wow! I love these 1/48 kits that Tamiya is doing! I find that they are a good middle ground between 1/35 and 1/72.

It took me almost 4 hours to paint this little fellow.
I understand it can take a while to paint figures well enough to go with the amazing job you do with your armor builds. I found a shortcut to getting the basic tones down so I don't have to keep layering thin highlights and it's cut my figure painting time down by a lot these days. This wash is my shortcut. After a base skin tone I use this wash and all I have to do from there is pick out some highlights and maybe run another thinned wash over that. Add some eyebrows and your pretty much done. The uniform has 5 layers of gradual highlights with a dark brown wash for the recesses. The results show for themselves. I can't wait to see how your figures turn out!

This is a vey nice weathered Kubelwagen. Now like Mike asked 'where are the figures?'
Nice job.
Mark, 1961, Sarge, PJ, Gamera, thanks guys. A small scale good quality low parts count kit, some planning and materials prep beforehand, and you can do it too! There were a couple of guys in the club who reached this level in four hours. Six is good enough for me...
I’m working on the figures now... they will take longer, depending upon how the skin work goes... that is always my weak spot... once they're finished I’ll do a few more photos...
M. Brindos Wow! Big improvement! But... where are the figures? Lol

Yeah the Kubelwagen looks great! Love the weathering! But she does look kinda lonesome sitting there in the desert all by herself.

I don't think I could move that fast. Great job.
John
Nicely done Carlos. I especially like the way you weathered the wheels, seats and windshield.
Harold
Dressed and ready to go out, looking good Stik.
So, Saturday I took two more hours total to wrap this up... oil wash, then pigments....
I took the above shots yesterday, then today posed it on my little desert base
Mike, if Tamiya had come out with their 1/48 armor line in the late 80s when I decided to standardize my scales, I would have jumped right in and never looked back. Those kits are gorgeous. I bet you are in bliss with the Matilda.
John, thank you. It really was a fun challenge to build something in that timeframe. Just like being a school kid, only a few hours after school on a rainy day before dinner. And yes we do have better glues now. Fun Times once upon a time...
Now you have me thinking of a kit for next year...
Wow - 4 hours... that is quite the challenge. Nice work Stik finishing in that time frame. It does remind me of my 10 year old self cobbling something together in 4 hours. We have better glue today so I supose it's a bit easier.
Thanks,
If I run across one, I will! But for now you got me inspired to pull out a 1/48 Tamiya Matilda. Now this is building bliss! It's going together like a dream and I'm only a couple hours into the hull with these link and length tracks.
What a smooth fitting kit! I'll have to post a thread later.
Thanks Mike. Get yourself one of these kits! You’ll love it! I want to get this version now. Their figures are really nice!
Okay, so 4 hours? I haven't done that in a long old time. I get too sucked in these days. Even a "slap it together" takes me days!
So here I'm sitting, thinking to myself not bad, Carlos, and then I see those figures.
Wait! What?! This is 1/48 (scrolls to top) oh, WTH.
Now I'm seeing this little build a whole lot differently. I think I want one lol. Those figures are really amazing for this scale! I can't wait to see you paint these!!!
I hear ya Sarge....
These guys that came with the kit were not part of the Online 4 Hour Build challenge, but they are part of the follow up.... they are beautifully molded and the poses are so natural once assembled...
That's my speed, about 4 hour session to get one or maybe two steps done depending on the model detail. I like starting early in the morning, but if I need to paint I wait until my wife is up because my air compressor makes so much noise.
sometimes I do a session in the evening when my wife is on the computer. She likes playing computer games and I would rather work on a model. But soon summer will be here and it will be much harder to stay indoors.
templar1099 Takes me that long to find my glasses.
Takes me that long to find my glasses.
Right?! Normally in four hours I’ll get a step or two done and maybe an airbrush session with one color...
"le plaisir delicieux et toujours nouveau d'une occupation inutile"
Thanks Tony... two more hours and I could have finished this the way I wanted...
Thanks to you too Gamera. I can just picture that of building a snap together kit in the car...
Hehe, reminds me of building a snap-fit model in the back seat of our car back when I was a young whipper-snapper.
Nice work, she came out really well!
Sergeant Nice work... I never did any model in four hours even as a kid. Harold

Thanks! I’m already thinking about next year! Lol!
