if it was like modern times, you took them off if you needed to stow the tank to make sure they didn't get stolen. You put them on when you were going to be in a combat situation where hooking up the tank as quickly as possible could be the difference between life and death.

Don't want to be wasting valuable time looking for the tow hooks if you need to hook up as quickly as possible.

 

 

Sounds vaguely familiar... (and I plead the 5th on acquisition of missing BII gear)... no fun putting on tow hooks if your bogged down in mud...

when the army or USMC took off the front tow shackles did they ever leave the back tow shackles on or would they have taken them  off and put them back on if they had a tow cable attached
