Thanks, Bill! The figure started rough and I shelved this entire project because of it. Figures have become my center pieces of my builds. So if they don't look good I've been losing motivation.

That old "A" turned out pretty good as a late war survivor with a veteran commander. I did everything wrong with that one and it turned out looking mean anyways lol. I only upgraded the tracks to the indies that are for the "G". They fit quite well.

I'd like to see your project when you start it.

I love the Tamiya Panther Gs and their D. You are doing real justice to the figure! And, you did a great job on the "A" variant!I am impressed1

Given that Tamiya produces excellent Panther D and Panther G variants, and that thei Panther A is so out of date and inaccurate, I would like them to produce an up to date Panther A.  I've started a conversion of the Tamiya Panther D to a late Ausf. A by using their D kit with the necessary parts from the Italeri Ausf. A. I hope that it works.

Progress!

I've got the road wheels and the turret sprayed in Vallejo Dark Yellow. Closest thing I've got to a late war color.

The picture doesn't show the subtle modulation between the yellow and the earth colors. It washed out and just looks like overall Dark Yellow.

The next picture shows the Earth base color I'm starting from.

Nice Ausf A. I built one years ago and definitely not one of my best builds. But I have a G, an A and a D that I hope to get to in the future. Good luck with that Ausf G.

Thanks, Joe. That's my old Ausf A. It spent years rattling around in a box incomplete and over the years and a few moves I lost all the original bits and had to scrounge up extras or scratch build replacement parts. I've found the original travel lock and I need to finish that build with it.

No worries, my friend. You're mistake was simple and caused no harm lol. I do it often.

Unlike the old Ausf A, I'm not going to add a bunch of scratch built greeblies to dress it up. This one is good right out of the box. The Porsche Turret King Tiger I have in the stash has all the goodies though and will be somewhat epic for me. I've got the Zim, screens, and tracks with an Alpine figure for the TC. That one will be fun!

I believe you're thinking of the old Ausf A from 1961. This is the new tooling Ausf G from 1993. This kit is worlds apart from the Ausf A.

Far better detail and fit. Add some PE screens and AM tracks and you've got a solid winner.

I really enjoyed building this kit. It's not like the old one and you've seen what I did with that one.

He looks good to me! Then again I think my figures look good from a yard/metre but close up look like some sort of mutant from a cheap '80s SF movie. 

Interested in how the Panther goes. This was my second 1/35th scale model back in high school in the '80s. I wondered why it didn't look like the Panther in books in a lot of little ways. It's only later I found out that it's not considered a very accurate model...
