Possible to order additional tank decals?
Posted by gpat5570 on Thursday, May 28, 2020 2:06 PM

Hi folks,

I plan to build a Challenger 1 Mk.3 tank. It's a Tamiya kit.

The decals are great, but only give availability for one particular call sign, i.e. '40'. I was wondering, does anyone know of a particular website that offers particular decal types?

I actually need the call sign '31'.

I have looked through the internet, haven't found anything.

(Maybe I should get directly in touch with Tamiya?!)

Thanks

I don't have the Tamiya kit; would it be possible to get a picture of decal set?

Echelon and Star make decals for a Challenger 1 and 2 that may have what you are looking for.

IMHO, I don’t think Tamiya would be much help with customizing decals, but I could be wrong. Contacting them would not hurt.

This may be a good time to investigate making your own decals. Just a thought.

Accurate Armour does British armour call sign decals. That might be your best bet if you want a certain tank. There are also a few AM decals sets, including one for the RSDG, but they don't include 31.

I built that kit a few years back, nice kit.

Thanks for the link. I'll take a look.

Call sign 31 was my vehicle, D Sqn, Scots DG.

Already quite impressed with the attention to detail in the vehicle, brings back some memories! Tamiya to my mind is always good quality.

Thanks for the advice guys, I had a look at that website 'Accurate Armour', think I have found what I need. Some really neat stuff there, to give extra detail to the tank (I wonder if there is a grease gun that never works?! haha)

regards

They have some nice AM sets for that kit, i used the extra armour and fuel drum set on mine, and they are the best place for modern British kit. No, they don't have a grease gun, but the kit has one.

If you're ever looking for specialty decals or a subject no one seems to do, you could try Georg Eyerman's Decalcomaniacs:

He also has a Facebook page for the business.
