Tamiya Valentine - British
Posted by Tanker45 on Monday, June 8, 2020 5:13 PM

Hello All,

Decided to do a British Valentine from Tamiya for my next build as I do not have a lot of Brit armor under my belt.

What Tamiya colors would you recommend for modulation for the North Africa version?

Thank you,

Matt

I don't add modulation as i prefer a more realistic finish but i believe the general idea is to use lighter versions of the base colour's.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Hi - I'm just finishing this kit & haven't used any tonal modulation at all, but I'm happy with how it looks so far.  There are no large, flat areas that look monotonous, and plenty of surface detail to break up the appearance - normal weathering is quite enough & I think anything more would be overkill.  I used the hairspray technique (for the first time!) to achieve what I think is an interesting amount of paint chipping, and I'll finish off with a few low-key oil/hydraulic stains & a fine layer of dust, maybe some powdered pastel chalks.  Something big like an Abrams or a Tiger might be a different proposition, with big, flat surfaces that could benefit from some variation, but I'd probably still just stick to normal weathering.  Just my opinion - please feel free to disagreeGeeked
