US Army Husky, new color?
Posted by Ti4019 on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 10:33 PM

Ive got the AFV club Husky Mk III kit. As Im not a armor modeler I bought it based on it having wheels vs tracks, and I had never seen one.  Well, now Ive seen three going down the insterestate, and the color was very different than all the other equipment I saw that same day.

All the equipment I have seen on the intestate for the last several years is yellowish sand color.   I saw three of these things on the back of flatbed trucks, and they were a brown color.  Definitely not the yellow I see on equipment, including a couple of humvees I saw later on. Conditions on my drive were bright sunshine, little to no cloud cover, so it wasnt a case of the color shifting with a cloudy day.

The AFV kit calls for FS33531 sand inside and out.  Has any one got input on what the US Army is using these days?  Or was I seeing some export version being delivered?

thanks~

As far as I know, the US Army is still using either overall sand or NATO camo (and overall forest green for Strykers).  They could have been painted for export.

Isn't the Husky built in S Africa, if so would they not be going straight from there to any other customers.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
