You are welcome Gamera. One can actually hand brush Alclad and mm metalizers on small

parts with great results.

Cool, thanks! I tried painting my shells with Model Master brass and just didn't like the look of them. I've not tried handbrushing Alclad- I'll give it a try next time I get in the same situation.

Thanks cb, John and Gamera.

Gamera, Yes they are plastic ones from the kit. I hand brushed on several coats of Alclad Gold for the casings and MM metalizar grey for the projectiles then polished them with an old cotton rag. The resin stowage is from Ebay.

That’s a really good looking finish! Everything came together just right. On thing you may want to go back and address is the charging handle on the .50 cal.. Those had a wooden or plastic grab area, just like the spade grips.

Thanks  stik, yea forgot the charging handle color so thanks for catching it.

That's some beautiful work PJ! Love the storage! Just a fantastic job all 'round!!!

BTW: Did you use the shells in the kit? When I built my M10 years ago I painted the shells multiple times and never got them to look like anything other than painted plastic and finally just bought a set of turned brass shells and used them. I love how yours turned out.

It's nice that Academy quit printing their own decals. The old stuff was impervious to any setting solvent I've ever tried, including Walther's.

I have the Academy 1/48 F86 that has a beautiful colorful decal sheet but have read awful warnings from other modelers saying it’s very poor qualty. At some time Academy replaced them with Cartograph ones.

Man, those look painted. So well done. Excellent work on this. It look amazing.

Thanks BK. The Solvaset did a heck of a job melting down the decals over the raised details.

Gamera

Oh cool! Love how the interior weathering came out.

And good quality decals like Cartograph help too! With bad ones nothing seems to help that much- or else they destroy the decal.

Thanks Gamera. Unfortunately the forward area will be hard to see once the hull top goes on.

M. Brindos

I love how you got your decals to snuggle down. However, I believe the correct terminology for the nuclear option is Tamiya Extra Thin cement lol!

I'm also really liking the washes and pigment usage. Its looking really cool. Well done, sir.

Thanks, glad you like how it’s coming out so far. Still lots more work to do.

Solvaset is a life saver. There is no way for the clear carrier film to snuggle down around these raised details unless the nuclear option of Solvaset is used.

These Cartograph decals are good and have clearance holes done to fit around the raised details so no need to punch them out.

The real fun part is next, pin washes and weathering.

Short update

Did some washes and pigments on the interior parts

Sprayed Aquagloss in preparation for decals and washes then applied the decals.

Thanks Tojo and BK.

BK the Academy M10 has good reviews, good fit, great detail and brings a a good selection of extra on board stowage.

I have that Sotar 20/20 and it is super nice for the fine lines and tight detail. It works great for small bits and fine line camo. Your kit is coming along nicely. I need to get one of these too.
