Hobby Boss 1:72 Dora detail sets
Posted by BarrettDuke on Thursday, August 27, 2020 4:19 PM

Well, I did it, or I should say my family did it. They bought me the Hobby Boss 1:72 scale model of the German Dora railway gun. It looks like it will be a fantastic build. I'd like to do more than just build it OOB. Can anyone point me to accessories? I'm especially interested in some period appropriate 1:72 German engineers for it. I feel like they would help with perspective. Also, are any other aftermarket or detail sets available for the kit? I'm not having any luck finding anything to enhance this kit. Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Nothing from anyone, eh? Not encouraging. There must be, at least, a set of figures that are appropriate. I've seen finished models with figures added. Anyone?

The only AM item i can see for that kit is a Metal barrel if you can still find it.

For figures, you are probably best looking for Revell ones. They are probably the best in this scale and they have a set of Pinoneers as well as regular Infantry.

But it might not be easy finding them.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks, Bish. I appreciate you replying. The barrels aren't available any more and those figures are indeed hard to find. But you got me looking harder. I think I found some usable figures by Orion and Caesar. I might order a set from Mantis, too. Between all of those, I think I'll have what I need for figures. Too bad about the barrel, but I've assembled barrels before and gotten it right. Only this barrel is huge! I think I have a year-long project here. Looks like it will be fun, though---till I have to figure out where to put it when it's done!! Barrett
