Ohhh, that's cool! I like stuff like that. People might not know how big an aircraft is but a big truck parked next to it puts it into perspective.

I made some progress, the resin parts are on and the rigging is done.  The resin is detailed but the light color makes it hard to see what I am doing, and also makes it hard to see the detail in the photos in the instructions.  I've taken a bunch of photos from different angles that may help anyone else that wants to do this one.  There are some clutch and brake linkages that go on the left and right side of the winch assembly and they look busy enough but I suspect they are not completely accurate.  I did the best I could placing them.  Some of the pulleys are not aligned as well as they should be, there was one in the trolley frame for the trolley cart cable that is too far forward to allow the cable to run to the lateral pulleys up there so I removed some material from the front of it.  The thread I used for the cable hides it pretty well.  Now I can go on to work on the rest of the truck.  There may be green soon!

This is a very interesting build and I will continue to watch it. If only I could build decent aircraft models I would love to put one in a diorama.

Following along with interest! The pics really help to show the details in the rigging, thanks for posting them. I've got a feeling I'm going to want to build this kit and conversion.

You're welcome, Mike.  I'm glad people find the subject interesting. 

Some paint is on. It may seem like there are too many wheels in the picture but that's the result of starting to build the Tamiya Fuel Truck now. Used Hataka WW II Tank OD, and a Tamiya mixture of German Grey, Flat Black, and Flat Brown for the rubber. Got the rigging a little tighter by pulling on it as the paint dried.

There will be lots of parts left over, Tamiya used the same A sprues on the fuel truck which have many parts that are only for the cargo truck I am using for the base for the bomb truck. Of course a lot of parts will also be left over from the conversion as well.

That looks good John, I have no idea if it's totally accurate but it looks like it could work.

Oh wow how did I miss this? Looks like she's almost there- just add the fuel truck and a tarmac and you're pretty much done.

Thanks, Cliff, John and Waikong!  I will eventually do a diorama but I have a few more trucks to build, one is a resin 1/48 WC-62 Dodge.  I need more airfield figures, too.  Easy to find army figures in infantry uniforms but I'm a bit short on AAF troops.  I'll have to go through all the old Monogram kits I have, like the P-61.

That bomb truck came out great. I have a question: Is that B-17 from Revell? I ask because that kit comes with the bomb cart and crew that would greatly complement your bomb truck. 

Yes, the B-17 did come from Revell, but it is the B-17F that originated with Revell when the two companies had not yet merged.  The B-17G kit has the bomb cart but that type was used with the Chevrolet M6 bomb truck, not the later GMC type, so far as I have been able to discover.  The B-17G kit was a pre-merger Monogram kit originally.  I have a bunch of the Monogram G kits and should raid them for the carts.

Welll if you ever decide to make a diorama, those extra bomb carts and crews will compliment your bomb truck and B-17.
