Very cool. I did some 1/72 armor way back and while tiny, I really like the visual in this scale.

Thanks! I feel the same in a way. I also really want to model some of the more "unkown" units of WWII, like elements of 26th "Yankee" Division, in this scale as I am from Massachusetts.

Now that's something you don't see every day. Great subject and great work.

1/72 GMC CCKW 353 Dump Truck
Posted by Matt Sawyer on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 9:46 PM

Hi all. Long time no post, eh? Anyway here is a Heller 1/72 GMC CCKW 353 modified to be a Dump Truck that I have been working on since my 1/72 M48 A5 MBT ran afoul (Any help with that would be appreciated). Simple additions of a styrene sheet and rod cab cover and headlights add to the part. Will also have a scratch-built toolbox, HO tools, and perhaps some other equipment in the back. The vehicle will have markings for the 291st Engineering Combat Battalion (ECB) at Malmedy, Belgium, December 1944. The trailer you see is a modified Airfix 1/76 1-Ton trailer from the M3 Half-track kit, and will have HO basswood strips on it as well.
