1/35 Academy M-51 Super Sherman IDF complete
Posted by BrandonK on Friday, November 20, 2020 11:43 AM

I just wrapped this one up for the IDF GB and I am very happy with it.

I was going for a look of a tank that has been bombing around in the desert with all the dust and sand and I think I pulled it off.

I used Vallejo IDF paint set and Mig dust effect and Mig pigments. I topped it all off with a dusting of pastels. This was  super good kit and I will most likely do another. Later, after I move this one will end up in a small scene, but right now I don't have the space.

I hope you like it.

It looks really nice. Good job on it. Is it OOB, or did you add anything to it?

Looks great, color variations look good, and that long barrel looks so intimidating I did the Tamiya a few years ago and added a Dragon Spotlight.

It is OOB except for the filling in the spotlight and the antenna masts. The bags, cans and ammo boxes all came with the kit. Thanks for the kind words.

It had much more variation before weathering, but with tons of dust everything starts to look the same until you wash it. Thanks for the kind words.

The figures really do help. This is my third attempt at painting them. I am getting better, but I still struggle with those eyes. Thanks for coming by and your kind words.

Thanks. It will look better on a base and photoed better. Right now everything is put away and I don't have room for the base. I'll post up some better pics after I move. Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.

Really nice job of an old workhorse. I agree with the others regarding the figures and weathering, all top notch.

These Academy kits are pretty decent with good detail and fit. Did you use Mr.Surfacer for the cast texture? Looks great, specially the figures.  Beer

Thanks, Gamera. The paint is actually Vallejo primer and then the weathering changed the color lighter as I wanted a very dusty look. I think I got that. Thanks for stopping by and your kind words.
