I just checked eBay. "Fires of Kuwait" is currently for sale in both DVD and VHS formats.

Here is a Hungarian page showing "Big Wind" in action, along with some interior shots

http://www.autopiac.hu/szamok/2002/17/cikk36.html

Unfortunately, I don't read Hungarian and can't tell you what it says.

Also, apparently a film was made in 1992 about the Kuwaiti fires -- Fires of Kuwait. It is reviewed at the following website:

Cool vehicle! I wonder if the guy who proposed it was laughed at in the beginning.

You and me both! Smile [:)]
THe enclosure doesn't even look that difficult, but it's the engines that would be the most difficult, I think.
Plus, those are interesting shots on the web, but not enough of a resource. Maybe someone has plans for it out there somewhere..

Honestly, what category would this fit into. Man, but it looks like a heck of a scratchbuild. And it'll definitely be something different if someone decided to make one.

I remember seeing an Imax movie called "The Fires of Kuwait" that had a short bit on that modified tank. I've been looking around for any pictures of it but so far have only fond verbal description of it. I got this from one site dedicated to the movie.

"Many methods were used to quell the blazes. Some teams used conventional oil-fire extinguishing techniques. The Americans used dynamite to blow out the fires. The Hungarian team recycled a Russian T34 tank to create a spectacular prototype called "Big Wind." They removed the gun turret and replaced it with jet engines from MIG-21 fighter planes. They injected water into the jet stream to blow the fires out."

I remember a while back someone posted a picture of a T34 with a jet engine mounted on it, that was designed to put out oil well fires. can anyone post the pic again or tell me where I can find it?
