Stug, Sturmtiger, Sturmpanzer group build
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, April 15, 2004 7:52 PM
guys,

i was thinking that since the sherman family build is over, we could try a stugIII and IV, sturmtiger, brumbar, sturmpanzer III group build. Something small won't take so long. If enough people reply (10+) and are willing to participate, we'll start setting a time and date to begin. we'll set up rules accordingly.Smile [:)]

p.s.-tankbuild121 and i are promoting this.

Also, since so many group builds are going on, we can wait. But this is first in line if we do deside to do it. We just need replies if u r in.

Well, we wont start it just yet. we need more people to start the rulification (new word). So, if u could hold on, or finish the stug when we start or in the alloted time, that would be ok.

Well, I guess I could try a Stug out.... Gotta finish up my 251/1 first though and see how well I can do with German armor. (Never built a German kit EVER so, let me see how it turns out first, k?)

I have a late Stug III that I would love to start. I might have to do it for the D-Day build. How about starting when that build ends or is eveyone antsy? There is just so many builds going on right now. We need some space between.

Confused [%-)] I dropped out of the M1 build, but it started March 15? The tow build at this point doesn't have an ending, except all new builders will be prohibited after May 20. The D-day build runs from June 6-Aug 6th. Perhaps when that build ends(Last of them) that might be a good time to start. Or 1st of August. I know that is still a ways off, what do you guys think? I'm in if all goes well.

Dunce [D)] i did not realize that the d-day build ran until August! i don't want people to feel rushed, because the stug build might run for two months, at least that is what we think. i think we will wait until around the first or second week in August or until all the current builds are done. I'll discuss it with tankbuild121 and post again later.

Yah Hun Commander, it's in the talking stage, but the dates look to be confirmed. I think after that would be a great time. As of yet, no other builds during that time. Gives me a little time to order some pe goodies and figure out a cammo scheme. Cool [8D] I was checking it last night and coincidently wanted to get started on it.

I am tentatively interested. I will keep an I out for a cheap Stug. Don't suppose it could be widened to Self propelled guns? Not that fussed, because I'd love a Stug in my collection, but have a few other SPG kits.

Question [?]what spg kits do you have? tankbuild121 and i thought we might widen the category, but we were leaning on just a stug family(Ausf A-G) build.

I'm in the process of negotiating a purchase of a Stug right now, and I'd probably like to biuld it, but I'm in the middle of the Towed Gun build, and that'll take some time. Also, there is the D-Day build, which I was going to use the Stug for, so it all depends if I can use the stug for both builds, or just one, as well as when you guys decide to start.

Let's see - I'm in the small AFV and gettin' along about the speed of a geriatric glacier. I've got a 1/700 destroyer ready for rigging and a light cruiser I wanna start. There's a 1/300 sailing ship in the cupboard I'm salivating over...

And then somebody goes and announces this!

Unfortunately there's also an Academy Stug IV in the cupboard - I guess that sailin' ship is just gonna have to wait... Big Smile [:D]

Mainly anti-aircraft stuff, Wirbelwind etc. But after reconsideration, I think the Stug only idea is better. I am in the more general builds at the moment (towed, small) and think it would be nice to something specific. Guess I was just trying to cut down on kit buying. I'll look out for a bargain and hopefully I can join in. Perhaps other WW2 assault guns could be allowed, but me, I'd like to build a Stug III. Count me in for Stug!

We are thinking about widening the topics to a Stug/Hetzer or Stug/Jagdpanzer L70... If we open it to all self propelled guns, that would include Hummels, Nashorns, Marders, Wespe, Bison, etc. The build would be way to broad.

watch for more updates. and please email me if you are in.

Sounds more like an Assault Gun build. Would that make a Sturm Tiger eligable?

The date for the build is tentatively set for August 16. If this conflicts, let me know. IF we were to build any assult gun, the following would be a choice:Hummel,Nashorn/Hornisse,Jagdpanzer IV, Wespe, Marder, Bison, and Stug. I think Jagdtigers, Jagdpanthers, and Sturmtigers would qualify as a heavy tank destroyer or assault mortar.
I think that we should make this just a Stug III and StugIV build (we can do an assault gun build after the stug one is overQuestion [?] maybe?)

keep posting if you have questions or e-mail tankbuild121

I liked the initial Stug build idea. Limits it to a particular vehicle. Someday I would like to see a tank destroyer build. My Hellcat keeps calling my name.

Go the Stug's. The date sounds ideal.

Just to add my two cents, I like the stug only build. I'm in the small AFV build and I think one other person is doing a quad, it doesn't feel like a group build. It seem more fun if I could share my build experience with someone who is also building the same thing. Aug works for me.

Joe you said my sentiments exactly. In the Panther build we were like a small family so to speak. We were all working on Panthers even though there were variants. Alot of the info that applied say to an A type also applied to the G as well. Same would more or less happen in a Stug only build. Yah, that's what this needs to be all about. Cool [8D]
