Nice work, love the mud and weathering! And the hatches are easy enough to fix.

Interesting about the OD, maybe not to stand out in field when open?

Theuns

Exactly. And not just enemy troops within line of sight, but also aircraft overhead.   But if you think about campaigns in or near mountainous terrain, enemy observers on high ground can see a vehicle from many miles away. And the white of open hatches will stand out, not to mention being reflective of sunlight on clear days.

That's certainly the case for tanks and recce vehicles.

The artillery folks will generally opine that if they are close enough to be seen by enemy infantry, there are significant other problems with their day.

It is a general rule of thumb that anything that can be seen when open will be in the exterior paint.

Love the dust/mud/weathering on this one. I think you got it just right. (For summer or early fall of 1944).

Great finish Theuns! Just about everything looks just right. However, the inner faces of the open drivers compartment hatches should be OD, and not white.

Im busy with this M 12 and sofar its been a nice build. The OD is humbrol 155 with some ligntning as it moves upward. Pastel powder as a dirt wash on walked areas and dusting was done with AB using flat earth enamel that I then streaked and re-dusted to give a layered look.

Still needs a pinwash in places and some fine detail to put on.The metal look of the track is graphite pencle
