Thank you, Gamera, disastermaster, Tojo, TB and Bill.

Hopefully I’ll get some more work done on this kit today since my day is pretty free. Still need to decide if I’m going to repaint the figure that came with this kit or use an Alpine figure.

Greysnake,

Thank you for having responded!

I have also enjoyed stripping down old builds and improving them.  It can be quite a challenge!

I'll Be Honest!

I cant tell one from another except general shape. I have always liked MONOGRAM'S STUG 3. Either way it's a Dam Fine job.

Gamera

She's coming along nicely, big improvement over the original.

It’s been awhile since the last update. For those interested here’s how the Jagdpanther looks now.

Painted with Tamiya acrylics and have started to apply Ammo dark brown wash to some of the area's that has brought some life to the model.

Bill, (warshipguy) my apologies for the late reply. From my understanding the G2 deck was 15mm longer then a Panther G deck. From reading it’s not certain if all G2’s had the same 15mm difference. A group that restored a Jagdpanther using parts from other G2’s found differences in plate sizes. There is a chance then that not all G2’s had the 15mm difference then.

The bolts on the engine deck on the kit are recessed when they should be protruding. I’m not one hundred percent certain as I’ve only started to research fixing the model.

Bill (GMorrison) going to keep the kit tracks. Not keen on spending thirty or so dollars on replacement tracks with shipping at the moment.

Gamera, for some reason I’ve come to like restoring previous builds. Maybe it’s because I’m enjoying painting and weathering more than building now.

Cool, looking forward to seeing what you do here.

I used to do the same back when I was younger. Now I'd just buy another kit since I have more disposable income than I have free time (when I was younger it was the opposite).

You should get better tracks.

In what way(s) is/are the engine deck not accurate?  I'm curious.

Thanks!

Built this Tamiya 1/35 Jagdpanther Late Version almost three years and recently I’ve been unhappy with how it looks. To me it looks rather boring.

After a few minutes of work most of the parts I wanted to get off came off. There are three road wheels that are firmly glued in that will just have to stay.

Soaked the model in Simple Green and it stripped most of the paint off just a few small patches need some extra care.

It’s interesting to go back to my earlier builds and realize I didn’t care about removing pin marks, seams etc like I do now.

Whilst waiting for the paint to come off I started doing some research on this kit and found out it doesn’t do a good job representing either a G1 or G2 Jagdpanther. If you build the early option you get a G2 hull with late G1 features. The early option was what this kit was originally built as.

I’ve decided to try to make the model into a “somewhat” accurate G2. The engine deck layout is questionable if it’s accurate or not and might not be long enough. After a little digging in my spare parts I managed to find the parts for the G2 version. I also need to remove the tool storage racks from the side of the hull and reposition some tools to the rear.  As of right now the only aftermarket I’m planning on using are engine deck screens that are somewhere in the closet.
