3rd ID's Push Into Baghdad
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, April 16, 2004 2:23 PM
Perhaps a long shot - but someone may know.........

When the 3rd ID made their Baghdad push with their 30 Abrams tanks, did they have a unit with a mine plow on it in the mix (perhaps on point)?

I was thinking that a plow could have been handy to push aside obstacles.

(wanting real bad to use that plow by PART in 1/72 scale).

Thanks

Derek

Every battalion size unit had at least one to make it through any obstacles that the Marines hadn't cleared at the point of departure.

When I was in during the first gulf war each tank company had at least one. I would think that it hasn't changed since then, but I pretty sure some one with some current knowledge of armored units will chime in.

Yes, each Tank Company has at least 1 plow tank and 1 roller tank to clear mine fields and obstacles.
