Please help me find ..............................
Posted by scotty on Friday, April 16, 2004 2:39 PM
Being new to modelling armor does anyone know where I can find a 1/48 or 1/43 T-55 to go on my Iraqi dio featuring an A-10, I know armor usally comes in 1/35 but I think this will be a miss match of scale as it will be close to the 1/48 A-10, any ideas ?????

Thanx in advance.

Bandai and I think Frog are the only 1/48 makers that I really know of. Unfortunately I don't know if they make one though.

Scotty,

Just a suggestion if you can't find what you are after in 1/48. You could do a forced perspective diorama, which deliberately uses difference in scale to show distance and depth. If the A-10 is flying above the T-55, the tank should look a bit smaller, so by using a 1/72 scale T-55 (probably easy to come by), it would enhance the scale distance between the two.

I am sure some of the other guys here and in dioramas can tell you a whole lot more about this, but I have seen it done, and it looked really good. So you might want to at least keep it on the ideas table.

Good luck, mate

Great idea Matt, but i'm trying to recreate a photo I saw in a magazine which had the A-10 taxing by the wreck of a tank ,I think it was a T-55 but I'll keep your idea handy cause you never know what will happen...

Just a quick afterthought would the scale difference be that great if the t55 was in a bombed out state and dug in sand.

I think it could still work Scotty, as long as you organise the dio to be viewed from the A-10 side only. It will look quite strange from the T-55 side!
