i usually pin wash with raw umber and use medium greens, ocher, some white if it is a dark OD and some red. sometimes i wash the tops in one color and the sides in another. with side skirts (see my T-35) i will filter different panels with different colors. FYI reds will stand out more in a photo than seen when eyeballing the model. with washes, like weathering, IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE MIGHT BE DONE YOU ARE

I'd be tempted to also add a drop or two of a complimentary color like a blue. It really helps to add 'depth' to a finish.
