LecLerc question
Posted by upnorth on Saturday, April 17, 2004 5:55 PM
Hey folks,

I'm just puting the finishing touches on a 1/72 LecLerc T.5 by Revell Germany and I need some clarification on a detail about this beast.

My question circles around the machine gun mounted near the commander's hatch.

How frequently is this gun mounted on the LecLerc?

I've done a thorough scrubbing of the net for pictures and there seems to be a 50/50 split of pictures with and without this gun. The gun in the kit looks generally accurate, but is frighteningly fragile and I don't think would stand up well to even a light bumping.

I've just put a lot of scratchbuilding and bashing effort into an aircraft project, so I really don't feel like modifying the gun to strengthen it or scratchbuilding a replacement.

Will my LecLerc be just as accurate if I leave that gun off rather than installing it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm a M-1 commander and we mount our weapons in a non-combat zone only if we need them I.E gunnery or during as needed. That most likely why the pictures are 50/50. So if you wanted to leave the guns off it wouldn't matter. Hope this helps.
