Since i finished 3 shelf queens this month my reward is a new kit. Given how nice the Zvezda 1/72 (aka OTS) T-35 was and given i already had the T-90 i selected this one. Also a friend from one of my clubs is going to do a mini GB with me in 1/35. He has the Zvezda BMPT-1, i have the Meng and Trumpeter BMPT-1 and ordered the Zvezda BMPT-2 so, like some airplane guys who build a 1/72 before doing the 1/48 i am doing the same.
as is typical with OTS (One True Scale) kits there are some delicate parts but nothing was broken from the sprues. rubber band tracks with a mounting pin on the no. 6 road wheel. T-35 had Length and Link tracks. 4 sprues, 2 the same for the suspension, NO PE, no decals and looks like some parts, spare fuel drums are for the T-90 and so not used.
started with the turret. tight fit into top of hull so i did some sanding to loosen that up a bit. always annoying when building a 4 sided box in this scale but deep breaths and they got together. very little seam filling and sanding and some can be filled with a couple of passes of white glue (as it will shrink)
various components of the turret. some tiny parts i have left off until all the big pieces are together. Turret parts are not glued which is why the one looks off. got big parts of upper hull done an working on suspension system. NOTE the engine in the back is a 1/35 V-12 for a T-72 that may go into the engine compartment of my KTKZ-537L 8x8 shelf queen.

Thank you. after i did the T-35 i finished up a 1/35 M4 and M5. They seemed huge. now that i am back in 1/72 this seems tiny. perspective. and a pun as i am a semi-retired technical illustrator.
Zvezda is making some nice kits. i got into the Soviet 122 Aviation group which included the Night Witches and picked up Zvezda 1/72 and1/48 PE-2 from the dive bomber rgt and an ICM PO-2 for the Night Witches. Nice kits and i rarely do planes.
i have the Topol. started the Zvezda one when it came out and messed it up so picked up the reboxed kit by Revel. I have a 1/72 HobbyBoss SS-23 ready to paint.
Your Topol is excellent. when i start mine i will refer to yours. now i may have to do a camo job on the BMPT but not digital

Update. got almost everything together. primed with Vallejo Russian green 4B0 and base coated with Vallejo RLM 83 Dark Green. Any green darker than lime green and brownih greens works for Soviet/Russian and i have 11 T-34s in the stash so different shades of green will look nicer on the shelves. Also colors will change with scale, amount of liight, type of light plus washes and weathering.
i have some touching up to do: painting vision blocks and screens, guns, lights; adding the antenna which is not on yet to protect my eyes, the tow cablw and rear screen. the suspension was a tad fragile though not as bad as model collect. i masked the attachment points with poster putty. the instructions say put the track on before the top hull which, ofc, i did not do. track is one piece flexible plastic which i washed with metallic gray. tires are Vallejo blue grey. attaching the track was tight. the one sprocket came loose twice and you really have to stretch the tracks. i put cya on the road wheels and strteched and held the track. i did not bother to even trim the return rollers as they will be covered by the skirts as will the top of the sprocket where the tracks did not quite match up. next time (T-90) i may add some more "return rollers" so i have more places to glue the track and not worry about any gap as it will be under the skirt.
As you cn see the roadwheels are not even but i will make a small base so hat id not a problem.

right you are Gamera. although did not work out when i broke rubber band track on T72 at top AND bottom. Bases and mud hid a multitude of sins in armor.
Update. it is together and first oil wash, though not in these pics. always haave trouble with the right color for vision blocks and "sights".
going to start a mini GB with a friend 1/35 BMPT. he is doing a Zvezda BMPT-1 and i am waiting on a Zvezda BMPT-2. if i lose my patience will start the Meng -1. Crazy detailed track but it has a KMT-8 mine clearer.
i think a cheap HO scale building to use as a damaged urban setting is called for.

Looking forward to seeing her with the washes on. And I like the idea of using a railroad building.
oil washes are done but not dru yest and most likely at this scale will be weathered over, especially in an urban setting like Grozny during Chechnyan like war, which these were not in but the idea came from the failures in the first Chechnya War. 2 of these and a T-90 is the urban unit configuration. how is that for a run-on sentence?
the side mirror, if they go on, will be after the tank is mounted to the base and the base is complete.
still waiting on my Zvezda 1/35 BMPT-2 though i am not holding my breath.
