Sticking Things Together

Just to satsfy my curiousity, what is the best way to bond metal to plastic or resin to resin for that matter? I'm looking to expand past OOTB into some resin and metal aftermarket bits and CA seems to give me fits.

I use CA, but I use Zap-A-Gap most of the time. I like the consistency of the thicker gels. Also, if you can find one, use a hyperdermic needle as an applicator. You can just stick it right on top of the bottle and get very precise applications of the CA glue right where you want it every time. IMHO that is.

Maybe that's my problem, applying the CA. So here's a follow-up, how do you keep the tips clean between uses, I wasted a bottle of Zap-A-Gap because the bottle clogged up and I was lost on how to avoid going through tips at the cyclic rate. I don't get but a couple of hours at a time to work on something.
