Good to see you back on this BK, not rushing you but really want to see this done!

The figures look good! And like the logs as additional armour, I like using twigs too, they look waaaaaayyyyy better than anything I can paint.

Okay, so I have the tank built and fully painted. I have no weathering started as I will wait until I do the base and that won't happen until the Tiger I is done, which I haven't started. I likely won't be on this one again this year. The build is far from over, but I have other commitments waiting that I have to get done. Till then, she will sit in the box and wait for the base to start.

Just a quick update. Most of the stowage and small bits are painted. North of 20 hours so far just in that. I will do an oils application next and that's a good few hours. Then decals and then stowage. I have started the figures but just barely. Moving on.

Paint came out resl good, you barely see the camo in the movie, especially with the stowage and the weathering.

For those who thought this build was dead, it's not. I've just been working on other things while I worked up the ambition to continue. I've spent the last two days working on painting the stowage and tank.

I painted it overall with olive drab followed by black for the camo. Once that was done I felt it was way too light for the movie tank. SO, I followed that up with an overall spraying of german camo dark green to blend the camo further together and both darken it and make it more green as the movie tank was. Not exactly correct, but for the movie I think it's getting close. I have plenty left to do and I will be working on this for awhile now. I plan to finish this one soon and get the Tiger I and dio done this year.

Thanks guys. I still don't have any time table planned on this for completion and I haven't quite settled on a dio idea yet. I had toyed with the idea of added the knocked out Tiget I but that would make the dio quite large. Still thinking it over.

BK,

"Stupid muddy" is when the model looks like a real WW I tank in the field!  From what photos I have seen, too much mud is never too much.  My personal take is that a super muddy model is justified if it is in a diorama or base that justifies it.  So you're good.

I did see a photo of a modern Leopard 2 that was on exercise, where it looked as though a giant baby had grabbed it and dipped it nose first into a bucket of mud.  That was weird looking.

That's pretty funny.

I like those figures- if they'd fit on one of the 'Toon' they'd make more sense to me though.

Brandon: Good luck with getting the mud the way you want it. Personally I like 'stucco' paint. Guess I'm just weird- most people go with pigments instead.

From the Tank Museum at Bovington:

The Tiger's front fenders felt more like traffic plate for road work rather than thin, malleable lead foil!  Something for modelers to consider.

The track color is worth noting, too.  Despite siting in a shed with only museum-level mainenance (e.g. not daily inspections and track tensioning) they are not red rusty nor rail-brown.  In either case.

The buffed-by-contact look if the Shrman rubber pads is worth noting, too.

Since my whole dio will be based on the Movie I will work to replicate how it appeared on film rather than real life. The tank spend much of it's time in mud in the film and was properly muddy for that.

I will cut a compromise from stupid muddy and cobble stone muddy for mine. It will sit on a muddy track of some sort. I haven't worked all that out yet, but I'll get there.

Have you looked at AliExpress under resin figure?

Now that you mention it, that is who I got them from. Took a bit, but well worth the wait. They were by far cheaper than anyone else, and very nice figures.

Did you sewe the special where they showed how they got so many Shermans in one place and then brought in a real Tiger for a day of shooting?  There were some preperations that had to be made as well as some concessions to get the Tiger for the film.  One of the big shocks was when it showed up and everyone saw just how big that thing really is.

I did see that. They were concerned over breakage of those tanks and wanted to make sure they were used very little to avoid strain and damage. Kinda irreplacable units, so I understand. Still, very cool to see them together.

Oh that's sooo cool!!! Looking forward to seeing her done.

And I've bought several of those Chinese figure sets. Have you looked at AliExpress under resin figure? There's a LOT of stuff on there and I think most of the prices are much better than Ebay.

This is looking great!  Are you using any of the "Fury" accessories from the Italeri "Fury" kit?  Where did you get the figures?  I have so wanted to build this tank since I saw the movie "Fury" the first time.  Can't wait to see your next posting.

TJS

No, no Italeri parts, that kit has the wrong tracks. The figures are out of China, I forget where but they come as a set and were not cheap. They are super high detail and look like each character very well. There are some listed on Ebay just search 1/35 Fury crew. I also got an upgrade set that gives you all the Fury stowage.
