                        O.K. folks

                        I spend most of my modeling time with winged things, but every now and again I come down to Earth.

                        This is my latest, and only second, completed armor project. Its Revell Germany's 1/72 LecLerc T.5, straight from the box and hand painted.

                        So what do you treadheads think of this wingnut's tank?





                        Just for comparison, here's my latest next to my first armor, Revell Germany's 1/72 Challenger 1. With the exception of the tarps, the Challenger is straight from the box. Like the LecLerc, its also hand painted. The Challenger was completed a couple of years ago.



                        Would you say I've improved my armor finishing skills at all with my latest project?

                        No its not real dirt, its British Gulf Sand from the Testor Model Master Acryl range mixed with a similar colored chalk pastel dust.

                        Armor full time? Hmmm, I don't think I could ever give up my planes completely :-)

                        One thing I really like about armor is that its getting me reaquainted with good old hand brushing and away from the airbrush.

                        If nothing else, its a nice change of pace and keeps the modeling bench and display shelves interesting and varied.

                        Looks very nice. I'd say the Leclerc is definitely finished better than the Chally.
                        Keep 'em comming. I used to be exclusively into airplanes, then the armour was discovered, and I've found it nigh impossible to go back.

                        Great looking job Upnorth! I like making my vehicles to look that way myself (both real and models... mooowah ha ha!)

                        Warmonger, don't take it too personally, we in the US tend to forget that without France's help back in the 1700's and 1800's this country probably wouldn't have gained independence... now whether that's good or bad depends on who and where you are I'd imagineBig Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

                        A dauntless and a Tiger competing for my attentions? Hmmm... Knowing me, It'd probably be more like a Phantom versus a T-80. (I'm more into postwar stuff myself) :-)

                        I'm really glad you liked the mud, It was an experiment and I had no idea what I was doing when I tried it, I was pleasantly surprized by how it turned out.

                        The other day in my LHS, I was looking at Italeri's 1/35 T-55 and wondering how it might work as a next armor project.

                        I've heard Italeri armor is good, but I know nothing of this kit. What can you folks tell me about it? Is it a fairly old kit or more recent? Anything I should be aware of in the way of construction difficulties in it?
