Newer Tamiya kits have gluable tracks. Not sure about the vintage of your particular kit though.

Hi Rob,

This one's a recent release with link and length tracks.

Older kits were made with vinyl tracks and are not expected to be glued with normal cement. They are usually affixed with super glue or normally have a pin that needs to be melted carefully and "mushroomed" to stay in place.

The instructions should show this method.

Newer Tamiya kits have gluable tracks. Not sure about the vintage of your particular kit though. WW2 German armor is not my normal area of building.

Ok, I'm going to qualify this by saying I've never Tamiya Extra Thin Limonene cement (I love the Extra Thin regular), but in my limited experience with Limonene based cements, sometimes they just won't dry.

Case in point, I have somewhere, a tube of Pactra "non-toxic" (read Limonene based) cement which was bought and opened in 1979-1980, which is still quite liquid. That's a  Forty-something years old tube of glue which has never dried out.

Hi all,

I wasn't qquite sure which forum to post in, but here goes.

I'm in the process of building this fabulous kit, the Tamiya Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. G

I'm using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement (the lemon scented one!) and sor some strange reason, the cement simply won't dry on the tracks!

I am using the included jig, being careful to not get any cement on the jig itself. Even after a whole WEEK the cement is not dry and the tracks just fall apart.

Does this cement have a use by date? Could it be affected by humidity?

So totally weird huh?
