Pit Road 1/35 Type 87 Armored Car

I started working on this kit for Gamera’s Japanese GB and thought I’d share it over here for those interested.

I’ve always liked how WWI and inter-war armored cars looked and decided to get this kit by Pit Road.

I haven’t come across a lot of information on the subject. From what I’ve gathered the Japanese purchased some Vickers Crossley Model 25 armored cars during the 1930’s. The armored cars were given the designation Type 87 by the Japanese. They were used during the Shanghai Incident. There’s not a lot of information on the Type 87 in English other than some conflicting information online.

Onto the build here is what comes in the box.

The kit comes with a very basic interior which would need a lot of work. I’m just going to close everything up.

Construction was fast and in no time I had body almost finished.
The undercarriage went together with little fuss just some filling that needed done.

The kit comes with a nice engine which didn’t fit together without some fighting.

After about seven hours of working on and off here is what I have.

I seem to remember this kit being a subject of a magazine build/review a few years ago, can't remember the mag but I thought it was kind of neat looking then, still do.

Progress?

I missed this when you first posted it a couple of weeks ago. Wow, what an awesome unique subject! Looks like it went together pretty rapidly. Have you started painting it yet?
