That was the model that got me back into serious modeling again. I loved all the interior stuff and the hatches that opened and all those kinds of features. I didn't know or care of any inaccuracies and just went at it. It turned out fairly well and it still sits on my dresser. It originally was designed a motorized model (not RC) so there were problems but not major ones. Individual track links, too, way advanced for my skills at that time but it went together without a problem. I love it.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Hey J-Hulk, nice Tiger! Thats a very nice finish and I like the dust and wheathering! I can see what you mean by inacuracies though. The treads look a little too big. But you did great with that kit! Did you add AM stuff to the loader's hatch (like the loader's hathch's swing arm) and whatnot or did that come with the kit?

And obviously, these days I can't spell it either. Whoops.

Gee, not that I know of. I didn't even know what an iternet was back then. Perhaps I will scan some. It was in winter whitewash, too! He is an exceptional modeller though, I used to love reading his articles. I will try and dig that mag up.

Thanks, Matt! I built that ol' boy right when I was getting back into "serious" modelling. Didn't worry too much about parting lines or seams, and didn't even have an airbrush! I did that one all with rattlecans and brushes. Fun!

I'd love to see Ross Hansen's Tiger. Any pix or linx to pix?

Wow, J-Hulk. Nice Tiger. Great recommendation for a kit, photos like that.

A guy called Ross Hansen built a Tamiya 1/25 Tiger for an Aussie magazine years ago, and his turned out really nice also.

Buy it. Build it. Show us.

Howdy, big tank fans!

The Tamiya 1/25 Tiger I is an old kit with a lot of accuracy problems, but I reckon with a little work it builds up into what looks to me like a decent Tiger I. It was re-released here in Japan about 6 or 7 years ago, and that's when I built my second one. I built my first about 25 years ago!

Anyway, if ya wanna see what it looks like, here are a few pix of the kit I built 6 years ago:

As I recall, I bought the first one 25 years ago for $25 USD, and the newer one for 7,500 yen (about $69 USD) 6 years ago.

The Centurion is far and away the best of 1/25 Tamiya tank series.
The only kit I DON'T have from that series is the Chieftain!
It's a collector's item now, and just too dang expensive...there's one at an LHS here in Osaka going for about $300 USD. No thanks!

Anyway, despite its shortcomings, I'd heartily recommend the Tiger I as a fun and easy build!

I saw the kit once in Germany, but I didn't have the money to buy it. Disapprove [V]
I have the 1/25th scale Centurion from Tamiya and considering the age its a great kit. If I find the 1/25th scale Tiger I will buy it on the spot, no doubt about that.

Never even heard of this, but my M4 is from a 1974 mold and the details are not too good. They updated alot for the new release but the hull and turret are original and I'm sure the newer stuff's a lot better. I don't know if that's consistant with Tamiya, I hold them in high regard and was a little disappointed with this one. Not the RC kit itself, it's great, just the lack of details. For the price I would have expected at least hatches that were molded separately.

Hey all, just had another question. I was thinking about buying tamiya's 1:25 tiger. FIrst off, is it a long-gone kit that tam doesn't make anymore? Second, how was it. I know it is an old kit, but I still like the idea of the big scale. Were there any huge inaccuracies? Any major problems? Was it fun to build? Thanks everyone Cool [8D]
