Tamiya question

Just about any Tamiya kit is of hign quality. I would have to say the newer Tamiya kits are probably the best made right now, as the mold is new. Kits like the Marder III, Marder III M, T-55, or the M26 Pershing are all of high quality and little to no clean up.

I couldn't even answer what the best kits are of all time. Wouldn't make much sense considering I haven't had the pleasure of building many of them. So I'd leave that to some other forum members.

I have to admit I am a little biased in my opinions but I will of course give them. Tamiya's M4 Sherman is a great build, as far as the top three go:
#1 - Tamiya's M26 Dragon Wagon
#2 - Tamiya's M4 Sherman
#3 - Dragon's M4A1 Sherman
Tamiya's Panther G's are also great kits and I have heard great things about Tamiya's
T-55 and also Academy's Tiger.

Yup, you really can't go wrong with any of the new stuff.

I agree. Any of the WWII German Kits from # 35146 and up are great. I`m sure the Allied and modern products are as well

Their finest modern armor kits are the Type 90 Japanese MBT and the Leopard 2A5. Not highly prized by most US armor builders, but among the best armor kits I have ever seen. I haven't opened my Tamiya Pershing or picked up their T-55 so I will defer my recommendations on those two kits. They most likely are top-notch as well.

I find Tamiya's entire Sherman series a warmed over set of their initial M4A3 75mm kit. They build nicely but the DML kits are much better representations of Shermans. Their Centaur and StuG III Early are superb WW2 kits. I would imagine that the Cromwell and PzKpfw IIIL are just as nice too.

If you really want to work on your modeling skills, find one of the older Tamiya kits - like their first release of the M1 tank with the 90mm gun and the motorized set with 'rubber' tracks. I showed this kit to our club at the last meeting and the armor guys all were in shock - Tamiya has come along way from their beginnings. Just filling in the holes in the hull will greatly improve your skills.

The top three armor models in WWII should be the Tiger, Panther, and Sherman.

beautiful Panthers ever produced, until in 2002 Dragon released Panther A

Well in my opinion, what i really think is the top 3 armor models would be from Tamiya 1/35 scale German King Tiger production turret Panzer Kampfwagen VI Tiger II, detailed flexible tracks and one commander figure produced in 1993. the next, the German ICV Marder 1A2 with Milan. Juz check out the details on it side armour, you'll know what I mean. The last but not least is the US 40 ton Tank transporter "Dragon Wagon".this kit is 51cm long!! build this kit with a US medium tank M4 Sherman and you've a winner!! I know..... some of you won't agree.. well dat's U.......

Personally, my vote is for the German 18 Ton Heavy Half-Track Famo and Tank Transporter Sd.Ah.116. I still have yet to build it, but just looking at all the parts blew my mind and I can't wait to work on it.

Doing German WWII army just doesn't do anything for me.

All serious models I?ve ever built have been Tamiya so I am a little biased. But here goes. In no particular order.

1. Tamiya Mokei DT 3 U.S. Army 155mm M2 Heavy Field Peice, "Long Tom"
2. Tamiya M26 Armored Tank Recovery Vehicle #35244
3. Tamiya M2 Bradley IFV #35132

for me it would have to be the M26 Pershing and the T-55

Stug III Early G. :) One of the best 1/35 kits out there

The Dragon Wagon is a great kit and of course you would need a Sherman on the back of it.
