Howdy!

That's interesting, too bad you didn't include any links... That's why I had to look up this:

Now let's see if they get the differences between a WWI and Vietnam Quad 50 right. It would also help Dynamo Models if they talked to NDQSA - National Duster Quad and Searchlight Association... Looking forward to this release - thanks for sharing!

I was going to mention to you about the figures. Right now I am trying to find out if they ship to USA. Have not gotten to trying to convert the price yet. I may get two and trash that one I am flustered with on the gun truck kit.

I only caught a glimpse of one mounted in a truck and all I recall about the details was that it looked formidable. I caught it from the wrong angle to really see much. Waiting to hear if and how they deal with USA sales. The company is a new name to me as are so many on that Modeling News.

They are covered fully over at Armorama:

https://forums.kitmaker.net/t/dynamo-models-us-quadmount-machine-gun-armorama/27195

They do have different ammo boxes and decals for Vietnam guns, but that is all.  The generator and fuel tank are the same as the WWII version, which it shouldn't be.  It is also missing the commo box used by the gunners in Vietnam.

Hello everyone, yesterday evening, in France, I discovered this topic, and this person who produces Dynamo , I know him a little , I discussed with him the mistakes that are on the kit especially about the engine and the box at the top at the back. Would it be possible for one of you to provide me with documents, drawings, dimensions to correct these errors and have a real kit . because he saw that there were different things between that of the 2nd GM and the one that equipped the vehicles in Nam, since he worked well for the decorations, and the machine gun cannons, it would be silly to disappoint you, You Americans and I just finished 4 gun trucks with Star Decals decals boards , well with the bad M55 . thanks in advance for your help, guys .Best regards .

Your guntrucks look pretty nice.  Good job on them.

This is the TM for it that shows pics, but no dimensions.

TM 9-2010 Quad 50 - Changes in Force, Ax 2 - [PDF Document] (vdocuments.mx)

Unfortunately, I have only seen the pics posted at Armorama and none with dimensions.  He should be able to get the size based on the other parts around it though.

Hello Phil!

I'd like ro refer you to this site: https://ndqsa.com/

That's National Duster Quad & Searchlight Association. They should be able to help.

You can try to ask my friend, Joe Bellardo for help, just tell him Pawel from Poland sent you :-)

You could also try locating Mr. Paul Kopsick on the 'net - he used to be a Quad-Man in Vietnam (as opposed to Joe, who used to be a Dusterman), and I know Paul has the photos you need, he just didn't want them circulating freely on the 'net.

There are also some videos on youtube that show the Vietnam configuration of the Quad quite well.

One thing worth noting, when you look closely on the photos - in Vietnam they didn't mount the reflector sight on the quads - they relied on the tracers for aiming.

Thera are also combinations of ammo boxes - standard 50 cal ammo boxes, large 40mm grenade boxes and my favourite - cut down jerry cans used to store 50 cal belts, I'm glad that your friends noted those.

I hope it helps and I'm looking forward to a chance to buy that new quad. Have a nice day!

hello everyone .
I’m sorry I dragged my feet sending you news, I didn’t have any. sylvain sent me these photos , there are some that come from the book of David doyle , it is a model 2nd World War , the photos of M55 restored , also are of the 2nd World War , and it demnade if there is no way to find a person in the USA who would have restored a real model of vietnam because there are places of fixations and details that he does not see on the few original photos of the time that he found on the net .

it could do the STL file but it wouldn’t be accurate , I think you’d prefer the most accurate possible like me . Also, is this a land change that the grunts would have cobbled together? Sylvain would need more precise photos on all the places surrounded in red , I ask maybe a lot but I would like to find a solution . in toutcas, here are also the 3D drawings he made for the main box that is behind and above the gunner’s head.

thank you in advance for your help.
Glenn , normally with the link to order from the Dynamo model site , it should work .
heavy arty , I looked for the vintage photos of the Easy Rider that served me for the mein , I can not get my hands on it , I will search this weekend , it’s a big mess , my model room .

 best regards .

Hello!

I dug up this reference material for you:

http://www.vietnam.net.pl/misc/m55_power.pdf

Looks like there were two different generators used: 2kW and 1,5kW. I think 2kW would be better to show in the model, looks like it was more frequently used in Vietnam.

Hope it helps, have a nice day

I got an email from them. Anyone know of this shop?

Hello Glan,

Thank you for your message.

We already have some shops in USA that contacted us.

Probably Andy HHQ will be one of the retailer.

Best Regards
Sylvain

Just checked on them again this morning. Only place I see them is some French site. I don't think they are in stock yet and I checked one I had in cart for fun. Model was about 38 dollars and postage to USA was about the same. Still waiting on an answer as to who will be selling these in USA.

Very nice.  The Vietnam version parts look great.  Great job at listening to modelers and adjusting as needed.  One of these will look great in the back of a guntruck.

By chance, can you ask Sylvain if it would be possible to buy just the engine and electrical box 3D parts to update the older AFV Club or Dragon M55s to Vietnam standards?  Maybe he could do an update set for them with some of his newer parts, or of all the 3D parts?

Hello!

That's good news!

A look at the gunner reminds me about the Dragon offering... I know it's a bit of nitpicking, but you actually need different gunners for the WWII and Vietnam versions, because of different uniforms. I even have a picture to go with it:

Dragon M55 gunner modified for Vietnam by Pawel

Now there are some more minor things: You don't need the loader's platform, parts P26, P27, P30 unless the quad is riding on an M16 half track, which is most of the time. On the Vietnam version you don't install the sight, part E6 - in Vietnam they aimed the guns by tracers, the sight was way too easily broken.

That said I'd be glad to buy one or more of the kits even as they are now. Will they be also sold in Poland?

I told Joe Bellardo, my Vietnam veteran friand about this quad, he was very excited about it.

Thanks for keeping us updated, have a nice day

Paweł

I ordered them striaght from Dynamo on Apr 15.  1 kit and 1 set of 3D parts to update the AFV Club parts, plus shipping was only about $75.  They just hit US customs Fri, and should be here by the end of the week.  Not too bad in my book.
