MR TOM SCHRY

Excellent progress Matt!  If possible could you describe the "Townsend" method of finishing because your work looks very realistic.

Basically, it invovles, after priming, building up thin layers of Vallejo acrylics of increasing lighter tone of the base OD. After a clear gloss coat, the decals go on (I used decals from Microscale Industries) followed by a clear flat coat. Then a series of oil filters (create by placing a dollop of artist oil paints in a small container of mineral spirits) in area around the tank to tone down the paint job. After another clear flat coat oil dot filters were applied. Last steps will be detail painting, washes, and Tamiya weathering pigments.

Very nice start. I presume you have something going on with the suspension and tracks to not have them installed yet?

Yes, I'm going to add them after I paint the road wheels and put some mud on them. the tracks need to be painted after I put them on (vynl tracks).

Looks good, I don't understand why these kits didn't take off. They were inexpensive, detailed and quite neat.

Been Working on this one for some time now. Based on tips from Kevin Townsend I created a finish I am truly proud of and want to continue to use Townsend's system. More images, including mud weathering, a commander figure for the open hatch, and MGs + stowge, coming soon. Smile
