I built this for a So.Cal. AMPS 12 Hour Build Challenge, and just completed this, right at the 12 hour mark. There is a bit more I would like to have done, but with all the clean up needing to be done on this beast during construction, this was as good as I could do within the time allotted. To put it nicely, this kit is not for the faint of heart, modeling skills required. I built it OOB, painted it with Tamiya lacquers, and weathered with Tamiya acrylics. It looks fair enough from 2-3 feet away, but up close the time constraints show...
Thanks for looking

I think that it looks great! I've got the same kit in my stash and have plans for it in a diorama eventually.

Oh wow, SP that looks fantastic!!!
And knowing how rough Eastern Express kits are I'm twice as impressed!!!
I posted the Trumpeter kit of the B-4 I did years ago but I expect it was simple to build compared to this beast.

Thanks Tom. All I can say is take your time and be ready for lots of clean up on the beast. It's not a bad kit, but it's not an easy kit either.
great job Stik - wrestled it into a good place and in 12 hours. Imagine the world of hurt a battery of those things could rain down!
Thanks,
John
Nice work Stik.
Gamera, John, Tiger, thanks for looking in and your kind words on this build.
Gamera, I've never seen the Trumpeter kit, but I can imagine based on the others of theirs that I've built that it is light years ahead of this beast in quality. I don't think that there was a single part without excessive flash, a heavy mold seam line, or an ejector pin mark. Yikes!
John, I can only image what a whole battery of these could do... especially in volley fire direct fire mode... like a heavy cruiser broadside!
That's very nice, belongs in a Berlin Street diorams.
Tojo72 That's very nice,belongs in a Berlin Street diorams.
Thanks Tony. Thats kind of what I have been thinking..
Trumpeter makes a really nice set of crew for this gun- look for it under 'Soviet B-4 Howitzer Artillery Crew'.
I used it for mine and was really happy how it turned out. Sadly I looked for photos but couldn't find them, it must have been back when I was still on Photobucket.
Thanks for the heads up on the figures Gamera. I do have some resin gun crew figures that I picked up for this off ebay right after I bought the gun. Now to build and paint them.
Those sound cool SP, please keep us posted!
Gamera, I will get the figures posted on here once I get them under construction and eventually completed.
