Yup, it was on the base when I saw it the first time, the Harvey Barracks I believe. That's also where the T-34 was, but as I said, I don't know where that is now.

A few years back there was a rumour that the Strathconas had a line on a Tiger for restoration, but I have no idea if anything ever came of it.

wrbridge - No sign of the T-34 ... and I'm not sure if it went to Edmonton or not. Never knew they had one. The T-72 is now over at the Museum, I know it wasn't there before last summer, so you must have seen it on the base.

T3388g - definitely not a Firefly ...... definitely an Israeli M50.
Here's a pic

The T-72 has been in Calgary for more than two years. A friend of mine who used to be stationed in Calgary took me on a tour of the base 6 or 7 years ago, and one of the things he showed me was the T-72. He even let me get inside to take a look, which was awesome!

I don't recall exactly where the regiment picked it up, I believe it was as a result of one of the missions to Bosnia, but I'm not sure. It's defintely European though, not from Iraq.

There was also a T-34 opn the back lot then that they were in the process of restoring, I'm not sure if that's still in Calgary or if it was taken up to Edmonton when the regiments were transfered up north.

You need to get out a little more Greg ...... it's been there since last summer

This is even wierder than the Churchill VII Croc (canada did not use this). Why would they have this? I can sorta understand the churchill because canada used churchill IIs, and IIIs (i think).

And you pretty much answer your own question with this one. No, Canada didn't use the Mk.VII's but they did use earlier versions of the Churchill. But when it comes time to build a museum, you sometimes don't have much choice as to what version of tank you're going to get some 50+ years later.

If you want more proof of this, check out the M-50 Isherman in Olds.
